For years, Mike Kidd has been a big part of the flat track community and someone who has always supported the sport, the racers, and the people behind it. At Lone Star Flat Track, we’ve been fortunate to build a friendship with Mike through our shared passion for racing and growing the flat track family.

Last year on May 10th, we had the honor of co-hosting the Wild West Shootout in Boyd, Texas with Mike — a weekend full of racing, memories, and community. That’s who Mike has always been about: bringing people together through this sport we all love.

Right now, Mike is battling cancer and is under hospice care at home in Jacksboro surrounded by his family and loved ones. After a long fight and multiple surgeries, he made the decision to stop further treatments and spend this time at home.

We ask the entire racing community to come together and keep Mike, Sandra, and the Kidd family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Mike has given so much to this sport and to so many people, and now it’s our turn to surround him and his family with love and support.

An American Racing Dynasty!
The Hayden family isn’t just a racing family—they’re American motorcycle royalty. Known as the “First Family of American Road Racing,” their story was built on grit, dirt tracks, and a love for two wheels that started long before the spotlight ever found them.

At the heart of it all were Earl Hayden and Rose Hayden, raising their boys at the track, teaching them not just how to race—but how to live the racer’s life.

Then came the brothers.

Nicky Hayden — “The Kentucky Kid” — rose to the very top of the sport, capturing the 2006 MotoGP World Championship and ending Valentino Rossi’s incredible five-year reign. A true underdog story, earned the hard way.

Tommy Hayden — the eldest — a relentless competitor who spent over a decade battling at the front in AMA Supersport and Superbike.

Roger Lee Hayden — the youngest — a champion in his own right, carrying the family name through AMA success and onto the world stage.

Together, they didn’t just win races—they defined an era of American motorcycle racing.

From Kentucky dirt tracks to the world championship stage, the Hayden legacy is about family, determination, and doing things the right way.
