Letter from the old car to the owner...

To you who are restoring me I wanted to tell you something... Thank you! Thanks to your work the world will see a unique and unrepeatable jewel of those that are hardly seen anymore.

Thanks for not stopping, because no one ever told you it would be so hard. Thank you, because despite the thousand reasons to discourage you, you keep going.
Because there will be days, weeks when you don't see progress, and that year you swore to have your car ready, they were selected in two or three.

Because he has had to put up with typical comments like: "Why do you put so much money into that old car, wasn't a new one better?" or "Isn't there still a little bit left? Why when?".
I know there are days when you have thought about selling me, but don't fall for absurd comments, because your dreams are bigger, and because the longer the road, the greater the rewards.

Don't mind making fun of me, in the end, people only see the results, they will never understand all the work behind it. I want to ask you not to give up, do not give up because this project is an example, this old car is the example that dreams are achieved with work and patience.

At the end of it all, you know that one fine day, this car will hit the streets and there will be no words in the world to describe the satisfaction of knowing that I was always right.

That's why I thank you for not letting me die.
And remember... The roads where today's new cars circulate were made by us old cars!

Sincerely:
your project.

I’m gonna get on the soapbox here for a minute.....

To the old heads in the old car game....if you’re actively discouraging anyone with any of these statements:

“$10k won’t buy you anything worth having.”
“4-doors are a waste of time.”
“If you can’t buy something done, don’t even bother.”

I’m here to tell you in the nicest way possible: sit your ass down, and S**U.

All this garbage I have to listen to these days about how “kids (and I’m gonna use that term loosely here) aren’t interested in old cars,” “kids can’t afford old cars” and the like, are only furthered by comments like above. YOU as****es are to blame for the perceived downturn of this hobby. Not them.

Sure. $10k will only buy you a project 2-door Tri Five, ‘69 Camaro, ‘70 Chevelle, fastback Mustang, or many other cars that you all covet so much, and give your high regards to. It’s not 1980 anymore, and these cars simply aren’t used cars anymore. But why thwart someone from the hobby for not having the means to buy a $30-40k+ car off the rip, or wanting to start with a 4-door ‘63 Pontiac instead? Y’all should be ENCOURAGING these folks to get in and keep the flame burning.

I’ll keep posting my “on today’s episode...” posts to get as many people into his hobby as I can. Y’all feel free to do your part as well....
