Hello to all my Complete Car Care Friends & soon-to-be Friends.

Here we have a Jeep for which my customer was complaining of a transmission fluid leak. The engine is a 3.6L V6. The 3.6L is a popular engine for Chrysler & Jeep products.
The oil leak trail was visible on the passengers' side of the automatic transmission. What you see in the picture is the engine Oil Filter/Oil Cooler Assembly. The tall part is the Oil Filter Housing. Behind it is the Oil Cooler.

When you are looking at the engine in the engine compartment, you can easily see the oil filter housing. The oil cooler, however, is tucked under the Intake Manifold.
We pressure-washed the transmission and went for a short freeway drive. The oil leak trail is now visible on the driver's side of the transmission bell housing. It's leaking from both sides. The assembly in the picture was leaking engine oil into the engine valley and running out the back onto the transmission.

With a Bore Scope, we were able to reach under the Intake Manifold and locate the leak. When we removed the manifold, we were able to verify our diagnosis. It was an engine oil leak, not a transmission oil leak.

At Complete Car Care, we believe that a proper & complete diagnostic is essential to a successful repair. When we get out our wrenches, we already know what is wrong. The disassembly verifies the diagnostic. Hope this helps.

Hello Complete Car Care friends and soon-to-be friends

In the spring, the Fresno County Dept. Of Education Regional Occupation Program approached us, Central California Diagnostic Club, about partnering with them to build a Basic Pico Scope Curriculum for a new Adult Education Class & to endorse them as they applied for the $150K grant funding.

Well, the grant was approved, and tonight was the very first graduating class of Basic Pico Scope training. The class was 48 hrs, 4 hrs twice a week for 6 weeks.

On hand to observe tonight were representatives from the grant providers. Before the night was even completed, we received notice that the Pico Curriculum grant was extended an additional year.

We are now also discussing the possibility of adding a 3rd class for this school year.

Since we wrote our own Pico Scope Curriculum, I suspect this Pico Scope Diagnostic Class Graduation is the first of its kind in the US.

We certified 31 graduates tonight.

We also learned this class had the lowest dropout rate of any class in memory. The class was designed for thirty students. Thirty-one of the thirty-seven initial students selected graduated. The thirty-seven students were selected from one hundred & sixty applicants.

I'm assuming that is why the grant was extended after just one class and why we are discussing adding a third class this year.

In my opinion, School Automotive Textbooks are at least 20 years behind. The complexity, the rapid development & advancements in today's modern vehicles happen so fast, it's not possible to write a current curriculum. What this course did was bridge some of that gap.

The high graduation rate attests to the fact that our curriculum was on target, and Instructors Scott & Jairo knew EXACTLY what they were teaching and not just lecturing from a boring textbook. This curriculum was 50% classroom instruction & 50% "Hands-On" "Live Cars" training in the shop.

Pico Scope technology is very important, but there are many new automotive diagnostic technologies that quality shops use on a daily basis.

I'm hoping we can develop a 2nd automotive curriculum that teaches some of the many other advanced diagnostic technologies also.

Motorcycle 2026 Race Season UPDATE

We correctly diagnosed & repaired Mighty Max's 2-stroke motorcycle. The engine now runs better than before. We must have been experiencing some power loss prior but didn't know.

Last Saturday Evening was the last race of 2026 for us. After a bad start, Max raced his way up to 2nd with a pass on the final turn.

Moving the calendar forward 3 days, as you can see, we are now in the Emergency Room at Valley Children's Hospital.

Racing never ends for us.
Practicing this afternoon on our property, Max's electric motorcycle lost all power in mid-air. There was a big crash when the wheels touched down.

Max is only 14 years old so this is likely the first of many times to the ER for us. Well

The wrist is broken. A complete break of one of the bones in his wrist.

He received an anesthetic to put him to sleep while they reset the wrist bone. In a couple of days, the wrist will be in a cast.

Mighty Max called before they put him to sleep. He said he was hungry and would like Chick- Fill - A for dinner. Off to Chick-fil-A I go.

I want to welcome Matt Janes, a high school automotive instructor in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to our Pico family.

Our family of High School Automotive instructors is growing.

Complete Car Care & The Central California Diagnostic Club (CCDC) now assists High School Automotive Instructors (programs) in Idaho, Oklahoma, and New York, as well as in the Central Valley of California.

It's our goal to support & assist instructors in building strong automotive programs.

Besides communicating, we also provide our supplement, "Basics to Pico Scope", High School Automotive Curriculum.

It was written by our very own automotive instructor from Central High School East of Fresno, CA.

Current automotive textbooks are at least 20 years behind.

Automotive diagnostic complexity, techniques & strategies change much from year to year, so it's impossible for school districts to provide a current automotive curriculum.

IT DOESN'T EXIST.

That is why CCDC has its own curriculum supplement written by & for high school automotive instructors.

Matt will soon receive that supplement, which will guide him, step by step, through 11 basic Pico Scope Diagnostic Skill Sets & strategies.

We also provide our supplement each year to many of California's High School Automotive Instructors at the California "Skills USA" High School Automotive Competition in Ontario, CA.

It feels good to grow our family, support students, and build a stronger Automotive Repair Industry.
