Sometimes you get a more difficult project. Not that the chair itself is extremely difficult, but that the fabric choice adds to the difficulty level.

In this case, a very colorful and noticeable print that runs across the roll. The print has a 27.5 h x 26 w repeat which fits twice across a 52 inch roll. But the print is staggered, and does not fit directly across from itself, because the scene in the width of the roll does not repeat.

This 5-6 yard chair will now take more yards, and is more difficult to match. But this is part of what I consider as making a difference between good and great at your trade.

Study the print and see what I mean. I picked the girls for the arm tops.

Ever heard of up-cycling?

I have seen many photos of all the projects that can be done with old pianos. Some cabinets are turned into kitchen hutches, some into desks, even fish tank stands. Many parts from the insides are used for various art pieces. But many have been turned into wine bars. Google it and you will find them for sale, some in excess of $3000. That is what I did here. I have more pianos, and these can be for sale. Much cheaper than found online.

4 solid oak side chairs I built, including frames. I have had these frames (in pieces) for over 30 years. Just finally was able to assemble, stain and finish the frames last year. Finally made the cushions and covers this past couple weeks.

A pair of C5 Corvette seats I put new covers and new foam buns on. The frame was given upgrades to preserve new foam and covers.

The old ones were sold, and that customer brought me his new (used) covers and new foam pad to install on his seats. His seat back bolster was broken and I repaired it.

Its been a while since the last update because....well...I have been working on a large job. One customer, several large pieces of furniture. I wouldn't typically write much, but just post photos.

In this case, not only did I re-upholster and make all new foam cushions for these 2 pieces, but the customer wanted the frame built to make a completely different style.

This is the 3rd time her furniture has been recovered and unfortunately for me, the previous 2 upholsterers were hacks and didn't completely strip the old covers off. The second time it was recovered, she wanted the plain arm to look like a rolled arm, which only required adding a slightly shaped 2x4 to the outside top of the arm. I (with help from my daughters) had to strip 3 covers off, completely clean all staples from the frame, strip to the framework, and start from scratch with the objective to make her furniture look like some she had seen in a furniture store. That included the all new 8" foam cushions, and new 8" square arms.

I had to add framework to the inside and outside of the arms, to create an 8" square arm. Then adjust other framework in the back to match. And add framework to the back to accommodate the new thicker cushions.

All while I fit a few small jobs in too.

Many photos to follow:
