SEEING ANOTHER LOCAL BAIT SHOP CLOSE REALLY DOES HURT!!
Henlopen Bait and Tackle has been one of our favorite bait shops for a long time. This was the first bait shop Holden (our 5 year old) ever walked into. We partially blame Jordan for Holden's full-blown addiction to fishing.
Walmart may be cheap, Amazon may be fast, but where else can you take your kid and let them hand-pick that goofy lure that will never catch a fish, but they LOVE it because it's theirs? You can't find that on Amazon.
Stop shopping on Amazon. Stop supporting Walmart. These local bait shops don't just sell what works, they're another reason your kid puts the tablet down and learns to go outside and catch a fish.
Every time we went to Henlopen Bait and Tackle, Jordan made it an adventure. Holden would walk in and Jordan was there to turn a simple dozen minnows into the most exciting part of the whole day. Even if you didn't catch a single fish, Jordan and the guys at the shop made the whole trip worth the ride.
If we don't start supporting our local shops, they will be gone sooner than you think. Before you save $2 buying those hooks off Amazon, go see your favorite bait shop. Because the way the world is headed, they won't be around much longer. And when they're gone, so is all the knowledge they carry and all the memories they helped make.
We stopped in to see the Henlopen Bait and Tackle crew today during their yard sale to say our goodbyes and tell them how much we'll miss this amazing local shop.
Once again, Jordan couldn't go out without a bang. Holden walked away with a new collapsible fishing rod for the back of Mom's car so he's never without a pole.
Try to get Walmart to just GIVE a kid a fishing rod on the promise of fish pictures!
This picture shows you how much the little things mean to a kid. Nap time now requires his new favorite fishing pole.
Shop local. Support your local bait shops before they're all gone.
