Rest in peace Alex Zanardi. 1966 - 2026.

There are people in this world who, no matter what life throws at them, refuse to stay down. Alex was one of those rare ones.

He lost both legs in a horrific crash in 2001 and came back to win Paralympic gold. Not once. Four times. He didn’t just return to sport, he dominated it at the highest level. That’s a man who simply would not let the story end on someone else’s terms.

As an Italian, this one hits different. We are a proud people, and Alex gave us every reason to be. From the circuits of Formula 1 to the Paralympic podiums in London and Rio, he carried Italy on his back and made us all stand a little taller.

He showed every single one of us, athlete or not, that the obstacles in front of you are never the full picture. You keep going. You adapt. You find another way.

Grazie Alex, for everything you gave to sport, to Italy, and to the world. You will never be forgotten.
