MOKU made it to Hallett. 🏁🌺

Pulled through the gate, got our wristbands and credentials, found our spot, unpacked the helmets… and suddenly it all got VERY real. 😳😂

The 24th Annual Miatas at Hallett, during Hallett’s 50th year, and this little blue NC and I are here to make some memories.

For now: paddock life, Miata people, sunsets, and soaking in every little bit of this weekend.

Sunday… I get my turn on track. 🏎️💨

One of my favorite parts of getting ready for Hallett Motor Racing Circuit? Putting together the little treats for the weekend. 🥰🏁

There’s just something about filling up goodie bags, adding a few fun surprises, and knowing they’re headed to a weekend full of Miatas, track time, friends, and probably a little bit of chaos. 😂

The cars get all the attention, but I love these little behind-the-scenes pieces of event prep just as much. ❤️

Dan had a little Hallett prep of his own today. 💛🏁

After replacing the control arms and bushings on the yellow NB, there was one VERY important next step before putting it on track — a proper alignment.

So Dan and Indy loaded her up and headed straight to Forrest, Trent, Mason and the rest of the team over at Texas Track Works here in Fort Worth. 🔧

Any time you replace suspension components like control arms or bushings, you can change your camber, caster and toe. Those numbers affect how the car turns, tracks, brakes and wears tires. On the street it matters. On track? It REALLY matters. 👀

A proper performance alignment helps with:

Normal Monday things at TDR… replacing my steering wheel because apparently mine had decided to start shedding its skin. 😂

I’d say she earned her retirement. 😬
Out with the VERY well-loved factory wheel and in with a fresh Cipher steering wheel — perforated grips, red stitching, and that flat-bottom design. ❤️

And yes… it feels every bit as good as it looks. 😍

🏁 Even though it’s Sunday, the Hallett prep rolls on! 🔧

Today we finished one of the last important steps after changing the brakes on the 2008 NC Miata — bleeding the system and bedding the new pads.

After making sure the system is properly bled and the pedal is firm, new pads need to be bedded according to the pad manufacturer’s recommended procedure. Bedding gradually brings the pads and rotors up to temperature and creates an even transfer layer of pad material on the rotor for consistent braking and proper friction.

For many performance street pads, a typical bedding process is:

🔥 6–10 moderate decelerations from about 30–35 mph down to 5–10 mph
🔥 Then 2–3 firmer decelerations from about 40–45 mph down to 5–10 mph
🔥 Keep moving between stops — don’t stop completely with your foot clamped on a hot rotor
🔥 Finish with a 10–15 minute cool-down drive, using the brakes as little as safely possible
🔥 Let everything cool completely

Those numbers are a general example. Different pad compounds require different procedures, so always follow your pad manufacturer’s instructions.

And one important NC reminder: 🚨 Don’t immediately pull the parking brake after bedding or heavy braking while the rear brakes are extremely hot. 🥵

On the NC, the parking brake mechanically holds the rear brakes. Leaving hot pads clamped against hot rotors can contribute to uneven pad deposits or sticking. If parking right after bedding, let them cool first. On a safe, level surface, leave the car in gear and use a wheel chock if needed.

Brakes bled. Pads bedded. Hallett prep continues. ✅🏁
