For those that don’t know. I (Scott Crawford) have closed Cycle Werkz. Dave that used to work in the office has taken over the lease, and is doing t shirt printing, parts and motorcycle sales in the same location.
After 13 years in business I have learned a lot, met a lot of great people, and have been gravely disappointed in what the industry has become. The difference between cost and value seems to have been lost.
Vendors sell parts to me that are such poor quality that I spend hours every week diagnosing, repairing, modifying to fit, and explaining to customers why the part doesn’t work. Additionally the wholesaler and manufacturer will do absolutely nothing about it, just shrug their shoulders and tell me (and the customer) that I’m installing it wrong, which is nice.
Don’t even get me started on trying to quote dyno tune or engine build jobs against other shops that have absolutely zero race experience, results, formal training or proper equipment. “But they guarantee me it will make 20 more horsepower!?!”
Yeah. Just. Don’t.
Google them dude, they have won nothing, like ever.
I have relocated to the Virginia/North Carolina border and am doing contract projects on race only motorcycles for the remainder of 2017. Motec installs, engine building etc.
The pro street team is still going, there is one more race late November and then I will reset and figure out what direction to take moving forward.
I have tuned motorcycles to podium finishes in AMA pro superbike road racing, and won a pro street race with a motorcycle I built (ridden by Brandon Mitchan). The two premier hard surface motorcycle racing classes in the nation.

Thanks for your support, it’s been a long road, and now I must take another path.
