Get In Line – A Guide to Automotive Hard Line and Hose Security
Guide to Line Clamps.
When you stop and think about it, your car relies on a lot of tubes, hoses, lines, and wires to start, run, and stop. A lot of these parts are extremely important to the safety of you and your car, such as fuel lines and brake lines along with cables and electrical wiring. Not only is it important to properly route, terminate, and connect these lines, but they also need to be secured properly as well.
Most brake and fuel lines are routed underneath the vehicle where there is not only a lot of vibrations and airflow, but there is always a chance of road debris striking something. In short, brake and fuel lines always need to be secured to the body or frame – including the fuel filter.
Guide to Line ClampsThe same can be said for under-hood heater and A/C lines or even spark plug wires. It’s a brutal environment under the hood with extreme temperatures as well as air whipping around. Taking the time to properly route and secure hoses, battery cables, and wires is an important part to ensuring you’re not on the side of the road due to a leaky line.
A side benefit to taking the time to secure your hoses and lines correctly is that it adds a nice piece of detail work, and who doesn’t love to check out the details of a well-built hot rod? A few extra minutes of making sure a hose is secure and routed will save you in the long run, not to mention the satisfaction of a job well done.
