This is exactly why preventative maintenance matters. 🔧

This truck was supposed to be out working today. Instead, it was sitting because of a cracked fuel filter.

The repair itself? Pretty simple. The expensive part for a business is the downtime. A truck that isn’t moving isn’t making money, and now you’re rearranging jobs, employees, and schedules over something that could’ve been caught during routine maintenance.

Ford dually owners, this is something I see pretty often. 🔧

The caliper slide pins on Ford dually vans and trucks are bad about seizing up. When they seize, the caliper can’t move like it’s supposed to, causing one pad to stay against the rotor and wear everything unevenly.

That’s exactly what happened here. The slide pin was completely seized, the pad wore down unevenly, and eventually started eating into the rotor. You can see in the pictures how bad it got.

This is why when I do a brake job, I’m not just throwing pads on and calling it done. I check the slide pins, boots, and hardware to make sure everything is actually moving like it should.

A little extra attention during a brake job can save you from a much bigger repair later. 🔧
