🎶 Some smiles come with their own soundtrack - and Ashley’s definitely does. 💙
Meet Ashley Byers, BMT, MT-BC, bringing joy, comfort, and a whole lot of heart to young patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
In this music therapy room, an MHHP-donated guitar is more than an instrument. It can become a favorite song, a brave first strum, a silly rhythm game, a calming moment before treatment, or a way for a child to say something that words just can’t quite reach.
That’s the beauty of music therapy.
At Golisano Children’s Hospital, board-certified music therapists use evidence-based music interventions to support physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs - helping children with goals like pain management, coping with hospitalization, emotional support, development, and participation in treatment. Music therapists may bring guitars, tambourines, and other instruments right to children in units including the NICU, PICU, hematology/oncology, and general medical/surgical units.
We are so grateful for valued partners like Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, a 101-bed facility that opened in 1994, and for caring professionals like Ashley who help turn donated instruments into real moments of connection, courage, and joy.
At Music Has Healing Power, we believe every note can bring comfort, hope, and healing. MHHP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope and comfort to children and families facing serious medical challenges through music therapy, donated instruments, music rooms, and uplifting musical experiences.
Help us keep the music playing for more children and families:
