FABULOUS RESTORATIONS PRESENTS ...

Today, we took delivery of several extremely rare Callaway race cars in preparation for the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan along with 12 other historic Corvettes that will be on display and perform on the track during the 2023 American Speed Festival, September 28th through October 1st. Cosmetic and mechanical detailing is underway, and in control under the supervision of George Haddad at Fabulous Restorations, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

We look forward to seeing all our Fabulous Friends at The M1 Concourse, as well as having the privilege to introduce "The Fabulous Entourage" of legendary Corvette designers, builders, engineers and race car drivers who made history with these very special speedsters.

This year's celebration features three significant automotive anniversaries ... 100 years of 24 Hours of Le Mans, 70 years of Corvette, and 50 years of IROC Series.

A distinctive selection of historical race cars will be on display and on the track; check out the photos of race cars we're bringing, as well as The Fabulous Entourage of key-note speakers we invited who are slated for Friday morning September 29th. While race cars can't talk, our group certainly can. They will discuss living their lives surrounded by automotive genius, and their individual expertise in racing design, engineering, building and driving.

Fabulous Forum guests include MC, Tom Peters with Gib Hufstader, Ken Lingenfelter, Tony DeLorenzo, Paul Deutschman, Ernst Wohr, Danny Kellermeyer, Jerry Thompson, and host, George Haddad. Be sure to ask your questions, get autographs and take selfies with your favorites.

We would like acknowledge our friend and colleague, Reeves Callaway, who passed away July 11, 2023, and offer sincere condolences to his family. As the founder of Callaway Cars his legacy continues to delight the racing world as a Corvette visionary. We will miss you, Reeves, Soar High.

ZORA’S DAY in DAYTONA

Recently, there were a few Fabulous Days in Daytona, and certainly memorable as “Father of the Corvette,” Zora Duntov, was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame March 6 & 7th, 2023. Its CEO and host of the event, George Levy, gave the green light to presenters, General Motors and Fabulous Restorations. George Haddad assembled an essential group of Corvette race car legends, in fact many who followed Zora’s lead into Corvette racing.

Several thousand people attended the occasion, many enjoyed the Symposium (see panelists picture) and the formal Gala was an outright success.

ZORA, As We Knew Him

The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America is hosting a special event sponsored by General Motors and Fabulous Restorations of Fort Lauderdale, March 6 & 7, 2023, honoring its latest inductee, Zora Arcus Duntov .

Every Corvette enthusiast should attend this event, packed with GM designers, engineers and notable Corvette racing drivers.

See a beautiful display of historic Corvette race cars, including the SERV 1 and The 1954 Zora V8 Mule. Two Fabulous race car recreations will be there as well ... The 1966 Penske L88 and The 1969 Owens Corning L88, both cars in their first livery as raced at Daytona in 1970. You'll also see The John Greenwood widebody and The C8R mid engine race car.

If you're heading to Amelia Island that weekend take a turn Southbound and come to Daytona for this great event that will only happen once in our lifetime.

REPLICATING THE 1st PENSKE #6 L88 CORVETTE

As a automobile aficionado, Doug has photographed and written for several model car magazines and judged contest events. His award winning models have all been considered influential. GO WHERE YOU WANNA GO

Driving a 1950 Oldsmobile 88 into the 21st century often requires a modern restoration without having to spring for a total overhauling like this Fabulous beauty.

We upgraded the front suspension and re-engineered its existing components to allow the proper fit of new parts intended to enhance handling. The control arms and spindles were replaced to lower the stance of the car for sustained drivability. We rebuilt the steering box and inner and outer tie rods for quick maneuverability. Front disc brakes were added and the rear wheel brakes were rebuilt to allow safe stopping control. The Olds was completely serviced under the hood including tune up, valve adjustments and a rebuilt carburetor. We made a few cosmetic repairs to the rocker panels, quarter panels, floor and chassis, plus color matched the repaired areas. On the interior we replaced the carpet and reupholstered the front bench seat. To finish off this “1950 Cherry Olds” we added a new soft, canvas convertible top with glass window and realigned the side window glass to fit tightly. All in all, our client was very happy to take delivery of their dream car within 10 months … not necessarily record time, but worth every second of precision detail by our Fabulous Team.
