Moore Cadillac Richmond - Richmond, VA. Often we post photos of our newly completed projects, beautiful showrooms, exterior elevations at dawn when the sun is coming up, professional photography that is visually compelling. However, it is always rewarding to see facilities made new once again, especially on the fixed operations side. And although not as glamorous as the showroom and exterior beauty shots, the transformation on our Richmond project to us, is equally rewarding. Originally built for Hummer 25 years ago, and operating for the last 10 plus as an independent auto repair facility, this building was tired and in need of some TLC. Years of dirt and grime have been washed away. The now polished concrete floor looks brand new. A coat of paint, new LED lighting, and brand new shop equipment from Dealer Solutions & Design have given this service building a new lease on life. Soon it will be buzzing with Cadillac vehicles in for service.

Our latest blog is out and it speaks to something that unfortunately is becoming more and more accepted in the industry. Caulking has quietly replaced craftsmanship. It hides bad work, it doesn’t fix it. Rather than correcting misaligned trim, poorly cut openings, or gaps in break metal trim, caulk conceals the errors. It may not always be noticeable when it’s freshly applied and clean or when it is up on the roof. Over time caulk collects dirt and dust and ends up looking black and dirty. It goes from invisible to eyesore. More concerningly, on the exterior, If you need to caulk can dry up and crack with long exposure to the elements. Note: Everything depicted in our blog was put on our internal punch list and fixed.

There was a time when fit and finish gaps were to a 16th of an inch or tighter. Today caulking has quietly replaced craftsmanship

The projects we take from initial design concept through completion are definitely some of the most rewarding. Like with any project, they too come with their share of obstacles and hurdles. Unforeseen issues with local government, materials, people, suppliers, the list goes on. All things that we juggle on a daily basis for every client and project.

At the outset of every project we tell our clients, “it’s not a matter of IF something will go wrong, because it surely will. It’s how we as a team deal with it when it does that matters.” So, when we receive a glowing testimonial like this one from Butch Miller at Milton Martin Honda, we’re filled with an immense sense of pride. We’re glad that all of our efforts behind the scenes, dealing with the hundreds of little things, didn’t go unnoticed.

Moore Cadillac Chantilly - Kick-off meeting this morning here in Chantilly, temporary walls go up in two weeks as we upgrade this iconic building to the current Cadillac Brand standards. The ID Automotive team, along with the Penney Design Group is excited to be working again with Chesapeake Contracting Group.
