š TOWING 101: WHEEL LIFTS & DOLLIES
Ever wondered how a tow truck can safely move a vehicle when all four wheels arenāt on the road?
Thatās where wheel lifts and dollies come in.
A wheel lift uses a tow truckās underlift to securely raise the appropriate end of a vehicle off the ground. This allows the tow operator to move the vehicle while keeping the lifted wheels from rolling on the road.
Dollies are small auxiliary wheels that can be placed under the tires that need to roll freely during a tow. They can be especially useful when a vehicleās drivetrain, steering, or other components make a standard tow configuration unsuitable.
Why does this matter? š
Not every vehicle canāor shouldābe towed the same way. Drivetrain configuration, steering, vehicle condition, manufacturer recommendations, and the type of recovery all play a role in determining the safest towing method.
Thatās why our drivers take the time to assess the vehicle and choose the right equipment for the job.
A little towing knowledge goes a long way!
