Is your Porsche living on borrowed time?⏰
If you drive a 986 Boxster, 996 Carrera, or early 987/997, your engine relies on one small part: the intermediate shaft (IMS) bearing. Over time, wear and heat break down the factory bearing, and when it lets go, it can take the whole engine with it. Often with little warning.
The fix is our ceramic hybrid IMS retrofit. It uses ceramic balls with steel races, so it’s harder, runs with less friction, and holds up to heat far better than the original. It’s built to stop IMS failure before it starts.
💡 The transmission comes out for this job, so it’s the perfect time to do your clutch too and save on labor.
We’ve installed more IMS upgrades than any other shop in the region over the last 20 years.
