SEAT BELT ENFORCEMENT: The Wisconsin State Patrol will join law enforcement agencies across the state for the Click It or Ticket campaign, which runs from May 18-31.

Preliminary data indicates there were 7,636 crashes in Wisconsin last year with unbelted motorists, resulting in 145 deaths and 1,876 injuries. The campaign aims to spread awareness and encourage more motorists to buckle up. Seat belt usage is one of the most effective ways to protect drivers and passengers from injury or death in a crash.

Make it a routine to buckle up every trip, every time. https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/about-wisdot/newsroom/news-rel/051826-ciot.aspx

Bicycle safety is a two-way street! Motorists and bicyclists alike can do their part in keeping bicyclists safe:

Motorists:

➡ Slow down
➡ Look twice before changing lanes, turning, or opening your door
➡ Share the road
➡ Never drive in bike lanes
➡ Slow down and stay at least three feet from bicyclists

Bicyclists:
➡ Obey traffic laws, signs and signals
➡ Be visible and wear a helmet
➡ Use hand signals

ONE YEAR IN: It’s been one year since REAL ID enforcement began. Nearly 72% of Wisconsinites now have a REAL ID.

As a reminder, getting a REAL ID is optional but is required to board a domestic flight or enter a federal building. A valid passport is also acceptable.

Those who already have a driver license or ID may obtain a REAL ID-compliant card for $14 (the cost of a replacement driver license) or $16 for an ID card. There is no additional fee if the upgrade takes place at the same time as the renewal. Read more: https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/about-wisdot/newsroom/news-rel/050726realid1yr.aspx
