I designed a custom logo for a friend's new Jeep build.

He wanted to combine the legacy Dauntless engine with the legendary LS engine platform.

He sent me a picture of his idea and I turned it into reality.

I found images of both logos online and overlaid them in my CAD software.

From here it was just tracing and combining digitally instead of on paper.

This software was able to output everything needed to cut vinyl and to 3D print.

Designing a wall calendar frame to track my projects.

This project started with a cheap calendar that wouldn't sit flat on the wall. It was shipped like a poster, rolled up in a tube.

It wanted to keep that shape... really bad.

So I glued it to a piece of wood and created a frame out of trim.

the wood warped over time and caused some problems.

I would use a plati board if I had to do it again

Today my expensive CAD mouse mysteriously stopped working. After a closer inspection, the cable was cut where I had it zip tied.

I have never attempted to repair a USB device with wires this small. But hey, it cant be any more broken right? This means FREE learning and tinkering experience.

I stripped back the main wire housing carefully with a razor blade. With the sleeve removed, I was able to assess the damage. It looked like 3 wires were cut completely and 2 other were knicked in the process.

At first I attempted to solder them but my soldering iron was too big and put out too much heat. I pivoted to using soldered but connectors. With these, a heat gun can be used to control how much heat is introduced.

After some painstaking work with these tiny tiny wires, I was able to get everything connected.

Finger crossed I plugged it back in and......

IT WORKED!!!!!!

This fix took me 20 minutes total from problem to complete solution and saved me $300.

A little bit of know-how and the courage to try goes a long way. I was worried that the aluminum foil looking EMF shielding would be critical for operation, but it seems not.

Now I just need to clean it up with some strategic electrical tape and hope this repair lasts for years to come.

Day 8 of my Designs is this microphone clip.

This design went from an idea in my head to a product in my hand in less than an hour.

3D modeling and 3D printing are the perfect combination to solve simple problems like this. Any other solution would easily cost $10-$20.

The skip feature on Bambu Labs 3D printers can save hours of time.

Are you scared to fill your bed with copies of objects because youre worried one will fail? If one fails on a traditional Printer, it will drag the excess plastic into the next object and destroy it. This has a dominoe affect that will ruin the entire print.

This 3D printer is able to skip an object directly from its touch screen. After skipping, it removes the rest of the model from the gcode and will act like it was never there.

Scannable Keychain

Day 7 of my designs is this keychain with an embedded NFC Chip.

I can use my phone to write whatever data I want onto these chips. This data can then be read by any device with NFC capabilities including Iphones and Android phones.

These key chains link to my website, lotsofprojects.com, and are better than any business card.

This print also uses the multi color capabilities of my Bambu X1C to embed my logo flush into the design.

Day 6 of my Designs

This one is a modular pliers rack for my toolbox.

Each part has dovetail joints in addition to magnets to hold everything in place.

The magnet holes and dovetails were designed to print without the need for supports.

This design is also parametric and I can easily change the width by typing in a few numbers.

How would you improve this design?

Day 4 of my designs - Christmas Edition

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from LOP

I designed this Xmas ornament in my CAD software in under 5 minutes

It only took a few circles and a copy and pasted logo to bring this design to life.

Make sure to follow to stay up to date on my designs.

Day 3 of my Designs

Today's design is this bracket to hold my ceiling fan remote.

It mounts using the existing face plate screws and doesnt block access to the switches.

I also created a mirrored version for use in other rooms of the house.

How would you improve this design?

Day 2 of my Designs

I designed this USB case for an existing circuit board. The original case had a slider mechanism that didnt always work. It wouldn't plug fully into the drive and led to intermittent connectivity issues.

My custom case features an embedded logo, snap together halves. and a dust cover.

What questions or critiques do you have about this design?

Day 1 of reviewing my own designs

Ill start with a super easy one. This part took my 5 minutes to model.

It took 4 sketches and 5 features to create.

If I were to design it again, I would add a feature to prevent the need for support material. This feature would be a removable "tab" that is the same shape as the waves. This could be easily removed after printing.

Rating 7/10
It works
Able to see complete fish
the fins dont fit perfectly
too much support material needed
