🚨 WHEN YOUR DASHBOARD GOES CRAZY… WHERE DO YOU EVEN START? 🤔🔧

We had a 2007 Chevy Avalanche come into the shop with a very unusual electrical problem. The customer reported no interior power, no power windows, and all of the dashboard gauges had randomly stopped working. To make matters worse… the vehicle wouldn’t even start! 😳

The ONLY thing inside the vehicle that still worked was the sunroof! 😂

Our first step was to connect our state-of-the-art diagnostic scanner and see what the vehicle was telling us. When we pulled the codes, we found nearly 50 diagnostic trouble codes! 🤯

With that many codes, it would be easy to start replacing parts and hoping for the best—but that’s not how proper diagnostics work.

One code in particular caught our attention: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE AIR BAG MODULE.

We knew the air bag module was located under the seat, so we went straight there for a visual inspection. Sure enough, we found the module had been exposed to water, resulting in significant corrosion. 💧⚡

That one failed module was causing communication problems throughout the vehicle and creating a domino effect of electrical issues.

We replaced the air bag module, programmed it to the vehicle, cleared the codes, and performed a complete system check. Once everything was verified, the Avalanche was back up and running—and another happy customer hit the road! 🚙💨

🚨 2013 Toyota Tundra 5.7L – Check Engine Light Diagnosis! 🚨

This is a perfect example of why using a quality oil filter matters! 👀🔧

This Tundra came into the shop with multiple VVT/timing-related trouble codes:

⚠️ P0012 – VVT Timing Over-Retarded
⚠️ P0014 – VVT Timing Over-Advanced
⚠️ P0024 – VVT Timing Over-Advanced

After checking the computer system and electrical circuits, everything pointed us toward a mechanical oil-pressure issue.

We started with the basics and removed the oil filter… and found the problem! 😳

🛢️ The oil filter had collapsed internally, restricting oil flow and causing a drop in engine oil pressure. Since Toyota's Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system relies on proper oil pressure to operate the VVT solenoids and camshaft timing mechanisms, the low oil pressure caused the VVT system to malfunction and triggered the check engine light.

✅ Replaced the collapsed filter with a high-quality oil filter
✅ Performed an oil change with quality engine oil
✅ Cleared the codes
✅ Rechecked the VVT system
✅ Problem resolved! 🎯

💡 The lesson: Don't always assume a check engine light means an expensive repair. Sometimes, starting with the basics can save you a LOT of money!

Just because the bay doors are closed does not mean we are!!!

Due to the nasty heat on some days we have installed air conditioning in the shop, if you drive by and see the bay doors closed on these hot days feel free to stop by we still are open!
