🚦Dashboard Lights 101: What They Mean & How Serious They Are 🚨
Ever had a light pop up on your dashboard and wondered, "Can I keep driving, or am I about to break down?"
Dashboard lights are your car's way of talking to you. Understanding the colors and symbols can save you from a major breakdown or a costly repair. Here is a quick color breakdown to keep in mind.
🔴 RED = High Severity (Stop ASAP)
Red lights signal a major issue or immediate safety hazard. If a red light comes on—like your Oil Pressure Warning, Engine Temperature (Overheating), or Brake System light—pull over safely as soon as you can and turn off the vehicle. Driving through a red warning light can cause severe engine damage.
🟡 YELLOW / AMBER = Moderate Severity (Schedule Service Soon)
Yellow lights are warnings. Your car is letting you know that a system needs attention soon, but it isn't an emergency yet. Common examples include your Check Engine Light, Tire Pressure Warning (TPMS), or ABS / Traction Control light. Get these checked out before a minor issue turns into a major fix!
🟢 BLUE / GREEN / WHITE = Informational (All Good)
These simply let you know a system is actively running—like your high beams, headlights, or cruise control. No action needed!
