What to Look for in an Authorized AMSOIL Dealer for Motorcycles
September 1, 2026
If you ride, you already know oil isn’t a commodity purchase. A V-twin running one lubricant through the engine, transmission and primary chaincase is asking a lot of that fluid — and where you buy it matters nearly as much as which bottle you choose.
Plenty of riders end up on a third-party marketplace listing, unsure who’s actually shipping the product or how long it sat in a warehouse. Here’s what buying from an authorized dealer gets you instead.
1. You Know the Product Is Genuine
This is the simple one. Oil sold through an authorized dealer comes through the official distribution chain, shipped from AMSOIL’s own distribution centers. You’re not relying on a reseller’s description or wondering whether a bottle has been sitting in a hot warehouse for three years. For a product whose entire value is its formulation, provenance matters.
2. Your Factory Warranty Stays Intact
Riders ask about this constantly, and it’s a fair question. Using a quality aftermarket lubricant does not void a factory warranty. AMSOIL’s motorcycle oils are covered under the Warranty Secure program, and the products are also backed by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty. An authorized dealer can point you to that documentation rather than leaving you to guess.
3. Someone Can Actually Answer a Technical Question
This is the real difference. Motorcycle lubrication has rules that automotive oil doesn’t:
Wet-clutch compatibility. Many bikes share engine oil with a wet clutch, so the oil has to meet JASO MA/MA2 friction requirements. An automotive oil with friction modifiers can cause clutch slip.
Shared sumps. On many V-twins, one fluid serves the engine, transmission and primary chaincase — three very different jobs.
Air-cooled heat. Air-cooled engines sitting in summer traffic or parade pace punish oil far harder than a water-cooled car engine.
Storage and short trips. Bikes that sit are prone to rust and moisture problems that a daily driver never sees.
A dealer who rides, or who at least works with riders daily, can talk through those variables. A marketplace listing can’t.
4. You Get the Right Viscosity for Your Bike
“Motorcycle oil” isn’t one product. The right choice depends on the platform — and picking by badge alone gets people into trouble. An authorized dealer can steer you to the correct grade and tell you whether a single multi-use oil or dedicated primary and transmission fluids make more sense for how you ride. (We cover that decision in depth in our V-Twin oil guide.)
5. Preferred Customer Pricing
An authorized dealer can also set you up with the program that actually saves you money. A Preferred Customer membership unlocks up to 25% off every order, plus free shipping on qualifying orders over $100, a birthday coupon, and exclusive promotions through the year. Add the membership to the same cart as your order and member pricing applies on that checkout.
If you run a shop rather than a garage, there are two other paths worth knowing:
Retail accounts — for motorcycle dealerships, auto parts stores and quick l***s stocking product to resell.
Commercial accounts — for businesses buying at wholesale for their own vehicles and equipment.
