just before midnight at 11:58 pm, the Janesville GM
plant finishes making its last conventional pickup truck by 2nd shift and begins changing over to the production of commercial pickups, which starts Sept,10
LuAnne Dooman of Janesville wins the last pickup, a fully loaded black and silver four-wheel drive model, in a UAW Local 95 raffle. The truck was raffled off. This truck has been found!

Mike O'Brien is driving the last high-quality 1/2-ton truck built at the Janesville assembly plant. The guy on the back left with the hat is Claude Eakins! The 2nd guy behind the truck, white shirt, and black pants, is Jim Lee. He was the union's shop committee chairman. The guy on the far right is Irving Metcalf, and Bob Cottom is on Claude's right.

Whaddya say? Collect the rays? Too much to pay?

Should we cover all our roads with solar panels? That's the $64,000 question or more like the $56,000,000,000,000. This stuff is pretty expensive upfront but just think of the benefits:

* with embedded led lights - road lane markings and signs built right into the roadway
* with embedded heat element - never plow or shovel again
* road repairs as easy as removing one panel
* electricity shuttled right to your doorstep
* electric cars recharge while parked in any parking area

Part of this technology incorporates a panel, say at a crosswalk, that senses you're standing on it and flashes an appropriate message. Oy, I can see problems with this like maybe some wisenheimer hackers with their very limited vocabularies telling you where to get off or worse yet (shudder) broadcasting your weight to the world, etc.
