Some thing’s we at Devil Dog run into. Yes it’s been awhile. We did a new 5.9 Cummins engine swap. Owner wanted an upgrade. Upgrade known as “Boss Hoss” air intake. (View the video)
Another is a Lincoln Classic weld machine. Weld machine came in not running. Diesel injection pump assy as seized up. Replaced the diesel fuel injection pump & timed. Machine has not ran over 4 years. We cleaned out the fuel tank. It had more issues than just the injection pump. It kept going into shutdown. The electric fuel pump & injection pump shut off soleniod was hooked up in series. Reconnect them parallel. Furthermore, found the alternator was not charging. But it would stay running when alternator was disconnected. Reconnect it & it shuts down. Then we found out the amperes gauge was hooked up backwards.
This next issue was just due to observation. I’ve seen it happen on off road equipment. The fan blade was installed backwards.
Heres a DIY. Found diesel fuel injectors electrical harness loose connection. However it has 3 injectors out as well. Plus a turbo wastegate issues . All contributing to low power.
We also found a SUV turbo that was damaged due to “lack of maintenance.” It happens to diesel pickups as well. We had one the owner went out & started hisdiesel pickup. When he came out to leave. The engine was locked up.
Oil sludge will do a lot of damagd to your engine - gas or diesel.
