Record breaking rain this weekend! Here is what you need to know about your sunroof.👇👇👇
Your sunroof isn’t actually watertight. It’s designed like a home gutter system.
When it rains, a little water naturally slips past the outer seal into a small catch tray (the gutter) and drains out through small hoses in the roof pillars (the downspouts).
During crazy, record-breaking downpours, two things happen:
- Overwhelmed Capacity: Small 1/4-inch drain lines can only move so much water per minute. Unprecedented rain simply fills the catch pan faster than gravity can drain it.
- The Mud Plug: Years of hidden dust, pollen, and dirt combine with heavy rain to turn into a thick sludge plug.
Aaron’s AutoGlass Quick Tip
If your headliner or carpet is soaked after this storm. Grab a length of thick w**d wacker line, It’s rigid enough to snake through and punch out compacted sludge, but smooth enough not to disconnect the hoses hidden inside your pillars. After snaking your sunroof, water should steadily drain out under neath the car.
