#𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends recap - what a battle. I headed into this weekend without great expectations, unlike Watkins Glen. The preparation was just as thorough, I have a ton of experience at Lime Rock as well, but in the last two years of Eibach, Inc. GLTC I had not found a tire that I could lean on around this rollercoaster of a track. My entire mindset changed in the first couple of laps in practice on 275/35/18 Maxxis Tires Victra VR2. Before getting on the dyno to reduce power for this weekends low weight set up we were in the low 57s, track record territory. I had 2 new sets of VR2’s on BimmerWorld wheels and I knew that a new set for qualifying would make up time for the 10hp we had to shave off. In qualifying the top 6 were within 0.4s all in the 57s, with my 57.597 on pole. I was able to lead and win the first two races of the weekend with Andy Smedegard, Eric Kutil, and Nicholas Barbato turning faster lap times behind me. That put me in P4 to start race 3 where I stayed until the last lap, passing Nick at the checker by 0.028 seconds in a blast down the hill. The race 4 invert put Nick on pole and me on the front row, creating a battle for the lead that lasted a few laps. After clearing him I pushed the 3300lb M3 to the limit to build a gap knowing that Eric Kutil was on sticker tires and would have an advantage later in the race. That battle came as fast as I expected and created a Road Atalanta like situation of side by side racing with the 82. Unfortunately an aggressive dive with contact put me off track and resulted in a penalty for Eric Kutil. There are no hard feelings, especially considering the fact that I did the exact same thing to Eric Jensen in 2024 and was disqualified for it, I understand completely. We are all friends with great respect and trust for one another that will go out of our way to help each other, the graceful way that a situation like this is handled is much more important than the mistake itself. The weekend results of p1 qualifying, two wins, and two seconds gave me a total of 95 points for first place. There is some more important math to discuss but we will save that for a different recap.

#𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 GRIDLIFE Summer Apex Festival recap. Watkins Glen International is a special place to me. I won my first race here with BMW CCA Club Racing in 2016. I have not lost a race here since 2017 and hold track records in National Auto Sport Association GTS3 and GTS4 (and now GLTC). The preparation for this weekend was nothing short of overkill. After the first DNF in years due to electrical gremlins GRIDLIFE Midwest Festival, I replaced the ecu, engine harness, and every sensor on the engine with Link Engine Management from Eric. The Motion Control Suspension was optimized for this track with Eibach, Inc. springs and a specific alignment developed over the last decade of success. I built a differential to add stability in the high speed sweepers with a gear ratio that suited the min and max speeds of this course perfectly. I came prepared with several sticker sets of Maxxis Tires VR2 on BimmerWorld TA5R wheels. The results speak for themselves. Pole position in qualifying, 3 race wins, and a 3rd place finish in the 9 spot inverted race 4. The GLTC championship points lead will be difficult to defend GRIDLIFE Circuit Legends but I will be ready to keep pushing.

GRIDLIFE Midwest Festival recap. What can I say other than “that’s racing”. While battling small electrical / engine control issues causing hiccups and sputters, I was able to dial in a very well balanced Eibach, Inc. set up that felt great to drive. On new Maxxis Tires and BimmerWorld wheels I was able to qualify front row next to Gingerman ace Andy Smedegard and in front of current #𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 GLTC points leader Eric Kutil. Race 1 turned into a defensive drive as I realized I didn’t have the pace of Andy and took P2. I took a strategy risk and ran a new set of tires in R2 instead of waiting for the top 10 qualifying shootout, it paid off with a win. In the shootout my sputtering had returned and I got lucky with another P2, starting back on the front row for R3. Eric helped band aid the trigger issues all weekend while I knew that it was time for an ecu and harness upgrade before Watkins Glen. R3 went smoothly on a damp track and I was able to finish P2 again. The R4 invert put me back on the front row and I pushed as hard as possible to take the lead before yet another engine control issue took me out of the race on the penultimate lap. With a lump in my throat I saw my championship points drop. Long 12 hour drive home before planning an attack on GRIDLIFE Summer Apex Festival with a new Link Engine Management and a ton of other upgrades!

Epic battles with and in GLTC. The M3 was hooked up all weekend on a fresh set of TA5R wheels and Victra VR2. BOP this year took away any straight line advantage we had but the MLM spec was dialed with springs well enough to get the 3200lb+ 230hp BMW around this roller coaster of a track in 1:36.20!
