Gloss black went in, this came out. GMC Yukon wrapped front to back in STEK DynoMatte Black.

Matte black changes the whole personality of a truck this size. And it is not just a look. This is color PPF, not a vinyl wrap. Vinyl changes the color and that is all it does, it is too thin to stop a rock chip. DynoMatte changes the color and it is still paint protection film, so the paint underneath is covered against chips, road rash, and scratches, with light swirls healing in the heat.

That is a lot of truck, and now every panel of it is protected.

Three black cars in the shop at the same time. That is not a coincidence, black cars keep us busy.

Black paint hides nothing. Every swirl from a rough wash, every rock chip, every little scratch, you see all of it. A black car can start looking tired within a year just from normal driving.

That is why these owners put film on. PPF sits on top of the paint and takes the hits instead. Chips and scratches land on the film. When the film itself picks up light swirls, a little heat smooths them back out, so the black stays deep instead of fading to gray.

One thing people mix up all the time: ceramic coating looks great on black and makes it easier to wash, but it will not stop a rock chip. Only film does that.

This IS350 rolled out today wrapped in STEK DynoMatte. Came in gloss silver, left satin. Photos don't really do the finish justice, it looks different every time the light changes.

It's not just for looks either. The film takes the rock chips and scratches so the paint underneath doesn't have to, and light swirls in it heal up with a little heat.
