Life is HARD!
And Iโm starting to think maybe itโs supposed to be.
We spend so much of our lives trying to make things easier. We want the easier job, the easier relationship, the easier routine, the easier way through. We think if we can just get everything figured out, eventually life will be easy.
But maybe easy was never the point.
Because holding on is hard, but so is letting go. Working out is hard, but so is feeling unhealthy. Eating well is hard, but so is being sick. Staying in a long-term relationship is hard, but starting over is hard too. Running a business is hard, but so is working for someone else.
There isnโt always an easy choice. Sometimes youโre just choosing which hard is worth it to you.
And I think we get caught up looking at other people and thinking, โMan, theyโve got it figured out. Their life looks so much easier.โ
Of course it does. Youโre not the one living it.
Last week we had a customer I had already decided we could no longer serve come back into our shop. He got in Robโs face, made demands and threats, and behaved in a way that, to me, was completely absurd.
My immediate thought was, I would NEVER act like that.
And I wouldnโt.
But Iโm also not him.
He has a different personality, different life experiences, different challenges and a different view of the world. I canโt control any of that. I canโt control how someone else behaves, what they think of us, what they say about us, or how they choose to handle a situation.
What I can choose is what I do with it.
Do I let one bad experience make me harder? Do I let it make me afraid to help people? Do I let it overshadow all of the good weโve done and all of the incredible people we get to serve?
Or do I learn from it, set the boundaries that need to be set, and keep moving forward?
I think thatโs where a lot of growth actually happensโnot when life finally gets easy, but when we realize it probably never will.
There will always be difficult people. Difficult seasons. Days where you question yourself and moments that just plain suck.
Maybe the goal isnโt to build a life where nothing is hard.
Maybe the goal is to build a life thatโs worth doing the hard things for.
Because easy might just be an illusion we spend our whole lives chasing.
So Iโm going to keep trying to do good and choosing the hard things that are worth it.
And in the wise words of Joe Dirtโฆ
โYou gotta keep on keepinโ on.โ๐ค
Have an excellent Monday! Letโs rock! ๐ธ
