I remember in the 90s, 4 Wheel & Off Road magazine did a nut and bolt resto to first gen Blazer. They offered the finished truck for sale at 30k and people absolutely lost their minds criticizing the price tag. If only they could have seen 30 years into the future.

On Sept 11, 2001, firefighter Craig Monahan parked his Silverado and got to work helping at Ground Zero. When he returned, his truck had taken a beating from the day’s wreckage, yet remarkably started right up. The fire truck for his team, Ladder 5, wasn’t as lucky. It was destroyed when the Towers fell. As a result, Craig's Silverado became the new search and rescue truck for the Ladder 5 team. In their eyes, if Craig's Silverado could keep going, they could too.
