THIS SUBARU WRX WAS DROPPED OFF WITH FOUR LEAKING TIRES.

One of those huge discount type stores had installed four B.F. Goodrich Advantage T/A’s a couple of years ago.

THIS WAS PROBABLY THE WORST EXAMPLE OF TIRE TECHNICIAN WORKMANSHIP THAT I’VE SEEN COME OUT OF ONE OF THOSE HUGE DISCOUNT TYPE STORES, IN YEARS.

The customer has had to fill the tires every other day or two.

THE REASON FOLKS, IS THAT BACK WHEN THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED, THE TECHNICIAN NEVER BOTHERED REMOVING ANY OF THE FL**GE CORROSION, AND SIMPLY PACKED THE FL**GES WITH AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF BEAD SEALER.

ALSO, THE RUBBER TPMS VALVES WERE NEVER REPLACED. ALL FOUR WERE DRY ROTTED, AND THE VALVE HOLES HAD SOME OF THE WORST CORROSIÓN I’VE EVER SEEN

THIS 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WAS DROPPED OFF FOR REPAIRS ON ON BOTH FRONT TIRES.

Not only did both fronts need repairs, but the flanges and valve holes on both wheels were heavily corroded.

When the Michelin CrossClimate tires were installedseveral years ago, the installer never made any attempt to remove any of the corrosion.

The rubber TPMS valve stems were the originals, and dry rotted.

Both wheels got the works, cleaned, painted and new valve stems.

DUE TO AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM, BOTH FRONT TIRES WILL HAVE TO BE FLIPPED BEFORE WINTER, WHICH WILL BUY THE CUSTOMER MORE MILES, AND SLIGHTLY BETTER TRACTION.

This was an exceptionally clean vehicle, inside and out, so clean that I had to compliment the very young lady driver, who learned everything from her pops, who’s vehicles always look like they’re right off the showroom floor. 👍🏻

I JUST HAD TO POST THIS 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO, MY FIRST JOB OF THE MORNING, IN FOR A ROTATE AND BALANCE.

I’ve been working on this vehicle for quite a few years now.

The vehicle has never been garaged, takes annual fishing and hunting trips, tows a fishing boat, and often goes off road during various hunting seasons.

The vehicle is flawless, inside and out. There’s not a scratch, chip, or speck of rust on the body, and minimal rust on the frame and suspension components.

The fender wells even look brand new, and again, it’s never been garaged.

THIS BEAUTIFUL, LOW MILEAGE, ALMOST FLAWLESS 2009 CORVETTE WAS DROPPED OFF FOR FOUR NEW MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 ALL SEASON “RUN FLAT” TIRES, SIZES 285/35-19, AND 245/40-18.

I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NOT TOO LONG AGO.

HERE’S THE SAD PART ABOUT THIS STORY.

As beautiful as this vehicle is, and the care that the previous owner took to keep it perfect, he not knowingly went to the wrong kind of shop back in late 2017, or early 2018 to purchase that last set of Michelin’s, which I’m sure were very expensive even back then.

WHAT I’M GETTING AT HERE IS THAT THE INSTALLER DIDN’T GIVE TWO CHITS ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT THE WHEEL FL**GES WERE CLEANED, AND THE VALVE GROMMETS AND CORES SERVICED.

Yes folks, as cosmetically perfect as these wheels were, the flanges weren’t.
There were areas on all four wheels with corrosion topped with bead sealer, another words, someone did a half a$$ed install the last time around.

ANYWAY, ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE PERFECTLY ROUND, WITH NO POTHOLE DAMAGE OR CRACKS, WHICH IS VERY UNUSUAL WITH “RUN FLAT” TIRES.

All four tires balanced nicely, requiring very little weight.

Banding tires this tight can, and will, damage the steel belts.

THE SAD THING ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION IS THAT THE RECEIVING DEPARTMENT AT THE RACK WILL MOST LIKELY RETURN THE TIRE TO INVENTORY, ONLY TO BE SHIPPED OUT AGAIN.

This is one that can’t be fixed.

Took care of some minor rust on the flanges, valve hole, back mounting surface, and lug holes in the process, then replaced the old dry rotted valve stem.

THIS 2024 CHRYSLER PACIFICA MINI VAN WAS DROPPED OFF FOR A RIGHT REAR TIRE REPAIR, AND HERE’S WHAT I FOUND.

The tire repair was simple, no big deal, but….

IT REALLY MAKES ME SICK WHEN A MAJOR BRAND CAR DEALERSHIP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A CUSTOMER, ESPECIALLY A YOUNG MOTHER WITH TWO LITTLE KIDS, AND ONE ON THE WAY.

This young lady had absolutely no idea what this dealership sold her, only two weeks ago.

THERE WERE OBVIOUSLY ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE.

There were two, like new private label tires on the front. That’s great, and they have a high treadwear rating, and that’s great too!

WHAT GETS ME HERE IS THE FACT THAT THIS DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE, OR RATHER SHOULD HAVE INSTALLED TWO LIKE TIRES ON THE REAR, INSTEAD OF TWO DIFFERENT BRANDS (KELLY AND FIRESTONE) BOTH HALF WORN.

FOLKS, THESE WERE “USED TIRES” IN ONLY HALFWAY DECENT CONDITION.
Funny that they found 2024 DOT numbers.

FYI: You can have ten different brands of tires, all the exact same size, all lined up, side by side, and I’ll GUARANTEE that there will be SEVERAL different overall diameters. FACT!

So now, with the mismatched tires on the rear, when this young lady goes to rotate the tires, the vehicle is going to pull one way or the other, leading her to believe she’s got another problem, when indeed it could have been prevented had the dealership installed matching tires.

I’LL ALMOST GUARANTEE THOSE USED TIRES WERE PURCHASED FROM A COMPANY LIKE UTIRES.COM, AS THAT’S WHAT THEY SPECIALIZE IN.

NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY SAYING THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID ANYTHING UNSAFE HERE, ONLY THAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING BY INSTALLING FOUR MATCHING TIRES ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE.
