It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that we publicly announce the sudden loss of our CFO, Richard Wolfe. He passed peacefully, though unexpectedly, of heart complications over the weekend of Feb 12,2022. He was a beloved father, uncle, brother, friend, and colleague.

Rich was born July 20, 1966 to Richard and Marilyn Wolfe in Springfield, IL. He was a graduate of the Hill School and the University of California, Berkeley. In October of 1992, he and his brother John continued the family legacy and took over operations of EMCO Gears, Inc., modernizing the family-owned, Chicago-based company and building an international reputation for the highest-quality design, manufacture, and technical evaluation of high-performance gears for the racing, aerospace, military defense, and commercial industries. Rich’s enthusiasm in all aspects of work performed here was such a wonderful quality of his. He was the spark that lit the fire for many events here at Emco Gears, Inc.; the most prominently known being the Mid-Ohio Emco Gears Classic which was held during the years of 2004-2011. The mark he has left with the company will be cherished for many years to come.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on April 30, 2022 at Church of Our Savior, 530 W. Fullerton Parkway, Chicago, IL 60614, followed by a wake to celebrate his life from 6:00-9:00 PM at Pennyville Station, 112 Main St. Park Ridge, IL 60068.

The Parapower Project Dodge Challenger has officially turned some laps here at Circuit of The Americas!
Team owner Joe Stevens ran the first test session this morning. When asked how he felt getting back in the Dodge today “I’m having so much fun getting back into a TA2 car. Overall my driving will require lots of work but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun. The Mega-Line / EMCO Gears parts have integrated into this platform seamlessly and hopefully, we can keep making progress here at the early stages of this project.”
The Parapower Project has been in the works to provide an avenue of opportunity for paraplegics worldwide to get in the seat and race whether it be for track days or a TA2 season run.

Stevens-Miller Racing is proud to support the Trans Am and EMCO Gears - PARAPOWER PROJECT

TransAm partner, EMCO Gears, has joined forces with TA2 Championship powerhouse, Stevens Miller Racing and MegaLine Racing Electronic, with a goal to provide a platform for paraplegics around the world to put them in the driver’s seat for either a track day driving experience or an opportunity to compete as a pro in the TransAm TA2 Class Championship.

After consultation with TA2 Technical Director, Ricky Brooks, a driver using this technology, must strictly adhere to the TA2 rulebook, with no performance advantages whatsoever. Therefore, while the controls will be customized to each driver’s preferences, everything else will come down to driver confidence, mental strength and ability. Making it a level playing field for everyone.

This is a unique challenge for each of the project partners. EMCO Gears has provided the transmission, along with a tunnel mounted electronic shifter. Joe Stevens, and his crew at SMR, have tirelessly worked to prepare a current TA2 spec Dodge Challenger, including a complete rewiring around the dash, to connect the engine to the gearbox electronically. This will power the necessary hardware for the customized driver controls on the steering wheel. A special thanks to Sam Chaysavang at AEM Performance Electronics, for his amazing knowledge and support.

EMCO Gears is honored to have MegaLine Racing Electronic supporting the project with their E-Shift Gearbox Control Systems. Ben Roos, and his team at MegaLine, have electronically shifted their way to all of the most coveted accomplishments in the world of sportscar and endurance racing, many times over.
The project car will be at COTA this coming weekend, November 4-7. At these early stages of development, we are even more motivated and encouraged with the support and enthusiasm for this endeavor. “We look forward to providing TransAm racing opportunities for the paraplegic community in our part of the Motorsports world, and are thrilled with the progress so far. It’s been an incredible collaboration,” Mick Austin from EMCO Gears said proudly.
