With Project Bronco done, and back to its home and now that we’ve had a chance to talk to our current customers I’d like to take a second and fill everyone in on what’s going on around here. Some of you may have heard rumors by now but, we have closed the doors to the shop. This has been a tough decision and not one we’ve taken lightly. Running a full time business is huge commitment, it’s so much more then 9-5 and with all the other things we have going on in our lives that seem to take away from that commitment we feel it’s best to take a step back from running this place as a full time business.
We won’t be completely done tho as we do have a lead on a smaller shop space (just around the corner). With this move to a smaller space we will be taking KDM back to more of a part time/hobby shop. What’s that mean exactly?? Well, We will be finishing project Chevelle in this space over the next few months. We will still be able to take on some small customer work here and there (no where near like we do now), we will hopefully get back into hunting down, rescuing some more abandoned classics to save them from years of neglect and find them new homes like we used to do and maybe, just maybe work on our own cars for a change too as it’s been way too long with out them in our lives.

I will keep this page going, although post will be much less frequent. Do please keep following and see what we work on next!

I want to thank all of our customers and everyone who’s supported and followed us for the last couple years. It’s been a pretty awesome ride that wouldn’t have been possible without you and I’m truly grateful for you all and for every second of this ride. As great as it’s been I will admit I’m ready to relax with it some and ready to get back to just enjoying cars and this hobby again.

Project Bronco is done! Picked up and went home tonight. This thing was fun! We swapped in a new 306 crate engine from BluePrint Engines. Then topped it with an Edelbrock proflo efi system. We put a wider rear axle in to give it a “full width conversion” and match the wider stance of the front axle (a project that the previous owner started) then we rewired it bumper to bumper, added some Dakota digital gauges, blacked out all the chrome and did a whole list of other odds and ends. This thing turns some heads for sure!

Project viper makeover compete!

This thing came in with some bright white racing stripes that looked ok but stuck out like a sore thumb and just wasn’t the look the owner was going for. We stripped those off and did a set of custom hand laid (no kits here!) matte black ones instead. Then we installed the new wheels The owner picked out and did a boat load of small maintenance stuff including an oil change and Procharger oil change and fixed a header collector gasket leak (what a pain! Lol)

While we had it Fly Low Fabrication modified a new fuel cap and P & C Coatings powder coated it in a low gloss black to match the wheels.

All of Defiantly gave this thing a entire new menacing look while not going over the top. This is a great example of how much you can change the look of your ride with out doing a bunch. This is the exact look the owner was going for and now this viper is HIS!

Even tho daily driver type stuff isn’t our favorite stuff to do, they need love just as much if not more then the typical “fun” projects we do here daily.

Radiator fan assembly, 4 new tires, and brake/suspension inspection for this Pathfinder today.

Bellhousing swap on the Tremec this morning. Awesome kit from Silversoort transmissions to make this Tremec transmission fit up to the modern ls engine.

Next up is getting the flywheel and Clutch kit kit in so we can marry the engine and trans back together for the final time.

Rowdy cam, fuel injection, modern drivability, decent mpgs, a/c, and a man pedal??? This things going to be a blast.

Worked with Trak Wraps to design some decals for the finishing touchs on the chevelles Ls. If you have been following this build from the beginning you may remember that this was a 396 car, so we wanted to replicate the original SS 396 air cleaner decal that was on it but modernize it just a bit and signify the Ls that the car is now going to have. Kinda of our way to give a little nod to honor and respect the past but bring it into the modern day. Also did some decals for the coil covers to replicated the GM performance parts ls valve covers. I think these turned out great and that little touch of old mixed with the touch of new give just the look we where after.

Not a ton of progress on the chevelle as we’re waiting on a backordered clutch and flywheel set up to get here before we can start making some serious progress on it but we did get the couple small final things done to the engine so it’s ready to go once clutch set up shows up.

And we Got the Dakota Digital gauges, Vintage Air, Inc. control panel and radio and vents all mounted in the new dash bezel for the Chevelle. I’ve got to say Dakota absolutely killed it with the look of this RTX series gauges. They look so dang factory. Can’t wait to see them light up! All these fresh new parts are really going to change the look of the interior for the better!

Like a dummy I didn’t record the first start up but project Broncos 306 came to life and it took its first breaths! Had a leaky fuel pressure sensor fitting that came installed straight out the box with the proflo setup, so I pulled it off and the threads where garbage! Of course we have every fitting in house but this one. So new one of those on the way and then it’s finish up some odds and ends on the wiring and get this thing tuned!
