Saving the most senior Master Technician for last. Say hello to Jacob "Jake" Landreth. Jake's been with Kenworth of Effingham for 10 years and transferred to us from another Palmer location. He brings extensive knowledge and skill to our team. Jake is the quiet one in the shop and you often don't know he's even here. However, he'd be one of the first Master Techs to jump in and help out one of the new guys if they needed it.
I feel his advise for anyone looking to get into the field would be to focus, pay attention to the task at hand, and ask questions when you don't understand something.

Today we spotlight Scott Hopkins, our 4 year veteran and "speedy tech" Scottie, as we call him around the shop, works with efficient speeds tearing down trucks for repairs that he seems to always be put on those jobs. We appreciate that he can take them apart and keep everything in order so either he or another tech can reassemble. It's definitely teamwork at Kenworth. There's not a day you wont find him covered in grease and grime within an hour of him being at work. He is a go getter!!
We asked he the following:
What your favorite type of work? Diff and transmission jobs.
What's the worst or strangest thing you've seen in the shop? A valve that went through the head.
What advise do you have for those looking at this profession? It's hard work.

Midweek shout out to Master Technician Michael Peters! He's brought his expertise to Kenworth of Effingham for the past 8 1/2 years, and works in the shop as one of our go to guys for the inexperienced newbies. He's always willing to help out where needed and trouble shoot those jobs nobody wants to tackle.

We asked him the following questions:
What type of job do you enjoy working on? Internal Engine work.
What's the strangest or worst thing you've seen come through the shop? Engine fires! So many things can burn up really quickly.🔥
What advise do you have for someone looking to become a service tech? Be willing to learn, there is more to this job than just changing parts.

Our rookie technician, Sabashtin Thompson is a force to be reckoned with! He's only been with Kenworth for a year, but in that time has made great progress and learned alot! We asked him the following questions:
What type of job do you enjoy working on the most? Replacing engines! Starting the engine the first time after having it apart is super satisfying. I also really enjoy electrical repairs.
What's the strangest or worst thing you've seen in the shop? The strangest thing would be a hole in an exhaust pipe do to battery cables arking on it. The worst would be mold on cabin air filters. 🤮
What advise would you have for someone looking into a tech job? If you want a career that comes with a huge sense of pride and accomplishment, this is it! Also, don't be afraid to try, you never know. The biggest thing to do is to put your ego or self image to the side and be willing to ask questions and take instructions. The senior techs have an endless amount of knowledge and expereince, soak in as much as you can!

Let's start our Tech Appreciation Week off with our Mobile Tech - Glenn Krampe. He's one of our Master Technicians and has been with KW of Effingham for 9 years.
We asked all the techs a couple questions and here's Glenn's responses:
What type of job do you enjoy working on the most? Wiring - I like troubleshooting and figuring out the problems.
What's the strangest or worst thing to come into the shop? Garbage Trucks 🤮
What advise would you give someone looking to become a service tech? Do your best. Take pride in your work. Listen to the "old" guys and learn everything you can from them. 👂
