LONG TRUE STORY INCOMING. A while ago I detailed this guys car. He had just bought it used and wanted a paint correction because the car had scratches all over it.
During our walk around, I noticed some scratches already in the chrome trim. Even mentioned to him “these won’t come out” and he says nothing.
They were so obvious that I remember thinking, “There’s no way this guy doesn’t see these lol
I started the detail and everything was going normal… except this guy watched me work for the entire 4 HOURS. 😂 That’s when I got a weird feeling lmao
I finished the car though, he said everything was good and I left😄
2 weeks later, I’m on vacation when I get a call from him. (Mind you he’s been blowing up my phone for random reasons since the appt). He’s DEMANDING that I pay to fix scratches in the chrome that he claims I caused‼️ I knew where this is going 🤦🏽♂️
I told him I didn’t cause them, and he got super defensive, this 🐍 knew the scratches were already there😡
He for sure saw them during the walk around! He watched me work for 4 hours lol. He said nothing about them before or after the job!!
Then ❗️TWO WEEKS❗️later, he calls me claiming I damaged them
I knew I was being scammed but I messed up
ZERO PROOF BRO (ruined my vacation lol) 🤬
No pre detail pictures, no vehicle condition report…yes my dumb fault lol
Nothing showing what it looked like before I touched the car
So even though I knew i didn’t, I couldn’t prove it. I ended up paying just to make him happy..But the best part?
He claimed I scratched it with my POLISHER. The tool I was literally using to REMOVE scratches🤣 He got me I’ll admit it
Not cause I damaged his car but because I didn’t protect myself like this!! That was the last time that ever happened❗️
Now before I touch ANY customer’s vehicle, I take pre photos, existing damage lists , and have the customer acknowledge the condition before I start. FOR ME AND THE CLIENTS BEST INTEREST
A few extra minutes before the job can save you THOUSANDS later literally! I learned the hard way so 🫵 don’t have to 😭🤦🏽♂️
