Nissan Revives the Legendary Datsun Z With Twin-Turbo Power, Alongside a Hardcore Track-Ready Z!
Nissan is bringing two very different interpretations of its legendary Z sports car to SEMA 2026, combining classic Japanese performance heritage with modern motorsport engineering.
The headline attraction is the Datsun S30 Concept, a stunning restomod developed with Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. Beneath its iconic vintage bodywork sits the modern Nissan Z’s 3.0-liter VR30DDTT twin-turbocharged V6, upgraded with Garrett turbochargers, NISMO cold-air intakes and an improved heat exchanger.
Power is delivered through a six-speed manual transmission, NISMO twin-disc clutch and limited-slip differential. The classic Z also receives lightweight carbon-fiber body panels, Seiran Blue paint, 17-inch forged NISMO wheels, upgraded suspension and Wilwood brakes with six-piston front calipers.
Inside, OMP racing seats, custom gauges and a Grip Royal steering wheel complete the transformation.
Joining it is the Nissan Project NAT2 SCCA Touring 2 Z, a purpose-built competition machine developed by Nissan’s volunteer Acceleration Team.
Designed around SCCA Touring 2 regulations, the modern Z features 38 mm turbo restrictors, NISMO suspension, upgraded cooling systems, a GT4-inspired exhaust and six-piston front brakes with massive 380 mm rotors.
Its stripped-out interior features a competition roll cage, racing seat, safety harness and fire suppression system, while forged 18-inch RAYS wheels and a motorsport-inspired livery complete its track-focused appearance.
Both vehicles are one-off concepts rather than production models and will be displayed at the Las Vegas SEMA Show from November 3 to 6.
One celebrates the origins of the Z. The other demonstrates its racing potential. Together, they showcase why Nissan’s sports car heritage continues to resonate with enthusiasts.
