The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office does not settle legal matters, attempt to collect any personal information or ask for donations by phone. No Law Enforcement agency will ever contact you for missed court dates and demand money to settle a legal issue. If you receive a call from these individuals report the matter and do not provide any personal information. If you need any further information or assistance or believe you have been the victim of such scam, contact your local law enforcement agency or contact 911.

Major Drug Seizure in Stewartsville Leads to Arrest
BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. — On Thursday, April 30, 2026, a joint operation by the Bedford County Sheriff's Office Community Action Team and the James River Regional Drug Task Force resulted in a significant narcotics arrest in the Stewartsville area.

During a routine traffic stop, authorities identified the driver of the vehicle as Garrett Belcher. A subsequent search revealed a large quantity of controlled substances and cash.

Items Seized
Law enforcement officials recovered the following items from the scene:

33 pounds of ma*****na

2.5 pounds of THC wax

$8,769 in US currency

One vehicle

Arrest and Charges
Mr. Belcher was taken into custody and has been charged with the following offenses:

18.2-248.1 – Possession with the Intent to Distribute (More than 5 lbs)

4.1-1100 – Possession of Ma*****na (More than 1 lb) in a public place

WANTED: MAN SOUGHT IN CHILD SUPPORT CASE OUT OF STOKES COUNTY

Authorities in Stokes County are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a failure to appear in court.

The Stokes County Sheriff’s Office has issued an Order for Arrest for Jonathan David Peak, 41, whose date of birth is listed as September 5, 1984. The warrant stems from a civil child support case after Peak allegedly failed to appear in court as required.

Peak is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

His last known address was reported as 260 Patriot Place in Dobson, located in Surry County. Authorities also list a prior address of 107 Turner View Trail in Mount Airy.

Officials note that the warrant carries a designation of “No Extradition – North Carolina Only,” meaning he is only sought within the state.

Anyone with information about Peak’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office at 336-593-8787 or 800-672-2851. Tips can also be directed to the agency’s main line at 336-593-8130.

Authorities remind the public not to approach the individual and to report any information directly to law enforcement.
