We hear this all the time.

Mileage is only half the story.

Even if your bike didn’t see many miles, your oil has still been sitting in the engine for 12 months — and that matters.

Here’s why we recommend changing motorcycle oil at least once per year, regardless of mileage:

• Moisture builds up – Short trips and storage cause condensation inside the engine.
• Acids form in the oil – Combustion byproducts don’t just disappear.
• Additives break down over time – Detergents and anti-wear protection weaken.
• Some Motorcycles share oil – The engine, clutch, and transmission all use the same oil, which shears it down faster than a car.

Oil isn’t just about lubrication. It’s about protection.

Letting contaminated oil sit in your engine all winter can lead to premature wear on:
• Camshafts
• Clutch components
• Transmission gears
• Bearings

An annual service is inexpensive insurance compared to internal engine repairs.
