If you only have five minutes before you go, check two things. Tire pressure while the tires are still cold, and coolant level while the engine is still cold.

A flat tire is one of the three things people call for help with most over a holiday weekend, along with a dead battery and keys locked in the car.

Air conditioning is a sealed system. It is not supposed to lose refrigerant, ever.

So if yours is low, it did not get used up. It leaked out.

Topping it off buys you cold air for a while. Then the same amount leaks out again and you are back where you started, minus the money.

Finding where it is leaking is real work, and it is not free. We will tell you what it costs before we start, and what we found when we are done.

That is an answer. A refill is just a delay.

Push down hard on one corner of your car, then let go.

It should come back up and settle. One bounce, done.

If it keeps bouncing two or three times, that shock or strut has stopped controlling the spring.

That is not just a comfort thing. A bouncing wheel spends less time actually touching the road, and a tire that is not touching the road is not stopping you.

It is a ten second test. Try it on all four corners this weekend.

You know when your brakes are worn. You can hear it.

Nobody ever looks at their transmission fluid and thinks, that has about had it.

Every system in your car that moves, moves in fluid. Fluid is a wear part, same as a tire. It just wears out where you cannot see it.

A brake inspection is not one person glancing through the wheel.

The wheel comes off. We measure pad thickness on both the inner and outer pad, because they wear differently and the inner one is the one you cannot see.

We measure the rotors. We check the caliper slides and the flex hoses.

Then we send you the numbers and the pictures before we touch anything.

You should never have to take our word for it.

September fools people. The mornings get nice, so nobody thinks about air conditioning.

Then you get one more 98 degree afternoon and the A/C blows warm on the way home.

Here is why it happens now. Your system has been running flat out since May. Whatever was marginal in June has had three more months of heat to finish the job.

If yours has been getting weaker all summer, do not wait for it to quit completely. Weaker is information. Quit is a bigger repair.

A lot of repair fear comes down to one question. What if it breaks again?

Most of our repairs are covered by a nationwide two-year, 24,000-mile warranty. Most engine and transmission work is covered for three years or 100,000 miles.

Nationwide means it holds if you are three states away when something goes wrong, not only if you can get back to East 58th.

If something we fixed does not hold, we make it right. You should not have to gamble on your car.

Oklahoma in August finds every weak spot a car has.

Heat is what finally finishes off a battery that has been marginal since spring. It cooks old coolant. It turns a small hose leak into a real one. It is also why an AC system that was just okay in June picks this month to quit.

If your air is blowing warmer than it was, or the temperature gauge is sitting higher than it used to, let us look at it before it strands somebody.

Starting a shop in a new town means nobody has any reason to trust you yet. You cannot buy that and you cannot rush it. You just fix cars honestly and wait for people to notice.
