Old vinyl does not always come off easily—and what is underneath often needs just as much attention as the replacement.

Over time, vinyl graphics can fade, crack, shrink, become brittle, and leave behind hardened adhesive or visible “ghosting” where the surrounding paint has aged differently. On this MINI, the deteriorated stripes were carefully removed using controlled techniques designed to protect the underlying finish.

Once the vinyl and adhesive residue were removed, the exposed paint was inspected, decontaminated, and professionally corrected to reduce oxidation, staining, swirl marks, and the difference in appearance between the covered and uncovered areas. After the finish was properly prepared, new vinyl stripes were installed to restore the vehicle’s original sporty appearance.

This process requires patience and experience. Simply pulling off old vinyl and covering the area again can trap defects, contamination, and adhesive beneath the new material.
