On May 8, 2026, the Durango Education Foundation held the second annual Pat Murphy Golf for Education Tournament at Dalton Ranch Golf Club. The event honors Pat Murphy, a founding member of the organization and a longtime, loyal supporter of Durango public schools. The Pat Murphy Golf for Education Tournament is DEF’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

Pat has devoted his life to his family, his career as a successful businessman and co-owner of Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center, his service to the Durango community, and to serving on the Durango Education Foundation Board. Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center is proud to sponsor this event, and to honor Pat Murphy’s lifelong commitment to our community.

Proceeds from the tournament support DEF’s mission to develop resources outside of the capacity of the regular Durango School District 9-R budget. DEF grants fund innovative technology, programming, curriculum, student competitive travel, and materials that enhance the educational experience in 9-R Classrooms.
