Let’s talk about the 3.6 Pentastar motor in Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram products.

We see SO many oil cooler failures in these motors. From just starting to leak only leaving a small drop here and there to completely dumping oil out the back side of the motor leaving trails of it.

Many shops and mechanics will try and tell you to “upgrade” to the Dorman all aluminum cooler. We can confidently tell you that this DOES NOT make your engine bulletproof to this failure. In the last six weeks alone, we have had to replace two of these “upgraded” coolers with the OEM plastic housing style due to them leaking SIGNIFICANTLY worse than what the OEM had. Both with less than 20k miles on the part.

Price points? The Aftermarket Dorman all aluminum brand costs you more than replacing the faulty one with an OEM plastic style.

All in all, these coolers are terrible designs and WILL fail again at some point. Don’t spend the extra money because you were told the aluminum one will be the “fix all” to this failure.
