Well folks with the Top less nationals this weekend in ogilvie means the race season is coming to a close.
In my eyes Team 28 has had a stellar 2026 season. Paul and I always lie to each other about March time before the season starts and say we are going to slow things down a bit, run less shows this year ā€¦ā€¦ šŸ¤Ŗanyone that follows us knows that was a load of crap. Paul raced the SSR race car in 62 shows in 2026 tallied up 4 feature wins, 21 heat race wins , 30 top 5 finishes , and 52 top 10 finishes . Paul also won the track championships at the KME Proctor Speedway and the Gondik Law speedway in superior.
It takes a team of people at and away from the track to have any kind of success in dirt track racing and Team 28 has plenty of help. Looking back I canā€™t thank the people enough that have helped Paul to become a successful race car driver. Help comes in many different ways, a voice of advice from former drivers, hints from current drivers, setup support from other race teams , help from the chassis builder, spotters in the stands , a sponsor randomly showing up with a new set of tiresā€¦.. the list goes on and on.
We have a new chassis from SSR coming our way for the 2027 season so we will be selling Paulā€™s current race car and really looking forward to starting off with a brand new hotrod. šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰should be interesting. (Winter updates to follow)

As promised here is the 2026 Hot Dish Nationals race recap! With Paul and I running late per usual, we called in some reinforcements,and had George draw a 54 leaving Paul to start 5th in his heat race! When Paul rolled off, he bounced and jostled, and twisted and turned but eventually rolled off 1st from the heat race! With it being a passing points event, that left Paul to start on the pin for the feature šŸ˜œ. With being able to steal George for the day, we got to teach him how to use the traction stand, and it looks like Peterlin racing may be needing an upgrade for next seasons tire operation šŸ˜‚ (sorry Kyle!)
When the feature rolled out, for what we could see through the clouds of dust, Paul was off and racing, and after some cautions, jostling, bouncing and turning he finished 2nd!

Paul and I are flyin solo to Hibbing Speedway today for Hot Dish Nationals! I PROMISE to be back with an update tonight!

It seems as though Abby doesnā€™t know how to post race recaps anymoreā€¦ in my own defense Iā€™m slightly confident I did indeed type one and then forget to hit post šŸ˜‚šŸ˜’

Fall Classic Feature results:
After the heat race gods let us in the show Friday night, we got up Saturday, played some golf and then got the car ready for the show where we rolled off 14th! Paul made some changes, and decided to try driving some new lines on the track, and ended up finishing 9th! Nothing to complain about there, a top 10 finish at another invitational is a win in our bookšŸ‘

As Night 2 of the Fall Classic is getting ready to kick off, I decided I suppose I can give the race recap from last night!
Crabby drew a 117 which left Paul starting 7th in the first heat race. Mid mods ran 3rd in the running order so the track was still in great condition when Paul got out there, with what felt like a seesaw beļæ¼tween the guys and a spacer being in or out, Paul finally got in the car and went to race. He rolled on 7th, had a weird start/ first lap, was in last, and then a caution came out, they re grouped. At the next start, the car looked really good, and then Paul finished 3rd! (Yay!) after a weird first lap, and being back to last at one point, we were very happy with a third place finish. Once Paul came back to the pits, we raced up to watch the rest of the heat races and began the counting to figure out if we would make the show or notā€¦ after a couple other heats had a ton of passing we werenā€™t confident we wouldnā€™t be running a b main today, however, we were wrong and we are still aboard the šŸš‚šŸš‚!!! We roll off 14th in tonightā€™s feature race!

Paul and I are loaded up and on the road to Ogilvie Raceway for the annual Fall Classic race!

We also need to take a moment to say a huge thank you to the Pederson family for paying our draw fees for the weekend! We appreciate it so much! To our supporters who may not know: Michael Pederson wheels his own racecar in the pure stock class, and does a great job! Heā€™s not quite old enough to drive on the roads, but heā€™s very quickly became a better driver than most of the people we do see on the roads ha! Red Clay Classic day 2 update!
After all of the fun was had last night, Mother Nature decided to turn our favorite 2 day event into a 3 dayer! With the rain pushing racing to tomorrow, we decided to road trip to Michigan for some bowling fun!

Couple of kids and a pit lizard decided to take on red clay classic this weekend! With crabby firing herself from the draw booth after a 72 pill draw, Paul started 7th in his heat.. pretty quickly Paul was in a close battle with Alex Meyers, and Nick Koehler.. after a close quarters race Paul finished 3rd!!! Congratulations to Kolby Reed on the heat win! Top 4 made the show so we hopped aboard the šŸš‚šŸš‚!!

Before we begin the race update from night 2 at Dirt Track Nationals, we have two quick things:
First - thank you to Jodi for taking us out to explore today! We had so much fun getting to see a new area!
Second - Team 28 has decided to announce that after tonight, we are parting ways with Ham1 Tires for the foreseeable future. Not only did Hunter McDougall draw us a 9 on a passing points show, he also puts holes in the tires he preps. As a team built on integrity and honesty, we cannot allow for this behavior to continue in the future.

Onto the race update!
After a pill draw of 9, Paul and Hunter decided to change the entire car, and with starting on the pole for his heat race, with Shane Sabraski starting 4th, thereā€™s not much else to do besides run away and hide. Paul tried to run, but when the cars around you can run faster, you run into an issue. Paul finished 2nd in the heat race, and that left him clear of a B main starting 14th in the feature! Our only hope was to go forwards, and Paul did exactly that!
Paul rolled off 8th for a pair of 8s this weekend, and today we wheeled it forwards, whereas yesterday we wheeled it backwards, soā€¦ progress!

As usual weā€™ve really enjoyed our weekend in Canada and are going to enjoy some mingling and maybe a fire before heading stateside to prepare for ashlands Red Clay Classic this coming weekend!

Dirt Track Nationals Night 1 update
Crabby drew #81, thankfully it was passing points so I didnā€™t get fired šŸ˜œ Paul started dead last in the last heat, and drove from 7th to 2nd! That left him pretty good for the feature to start 4th!
On the green flag for the feature Paul and the rest of the field did their thing.. for quite a few laps. After the first caution Paul fell back a couple spots, and then after another, the cars were left with a 3 lap dash for the win, and Paul rolled off 8th for the nightšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø not to bad, the top 10ish cars stayed close all night, it was good close hard racing, and the car lives for another day- not to shabby.

In the post race inspection (aka figuring out why we went backwardsšŸ˜‚) Paul found a broken RF shockā€¦ I think I may speak for the entire team when I say the night we donā€™t have an issue with a shock, will quite literally be shockingšŸ˜’

Weā€™ll see everyone back tomorrow with a new RF shock on the car, and hopefully some better finishes! Thank you to everyone who came out to watch tonight, itā€™s so humbling to see all the support for our little race team. We appreciate all of you!
