We're teaming up with Tri-County Animal Rescue Center to help showcase some of the incredible animals waiting for their forever homes. Could your newest family member be one of these sweet pups? ❤️
🐾 APOLLO 🐾
Apollo has been with us for over 700 days — long enough for every volunteer to fall head‑over‑heels for him, and wonder how this incredible dog hasn’t been scooped up yet. At around 60 pounds, this rottweiler mix (our best guess) is the definition of an XL good boy.
Apollo came to us as a stray, so there are pieces of his past we’ll never know: But he has never shown an ounce of aggression toward other dogs. He’s housetrained, neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines.
Apollo needs a home without small children…and a strong arm to guide him on leash. What he would love most is a large, fenced yard where he can stretch his legs, burn off energy, and enjoy some safe, vigorous daily exercise.
Apollo has waited a long time for his forever family, but we know they’re out there — someone who sees his goofy charm, his sweetness, and his potential. Someone who wants a loyal adventure buddy with a heart as big as his paws.
🐾 WINNIE 🐾
This petite, 35‑lb brindle terrier mix has been with us since November 3, 2025, after being found running alone on a local road. At around 2 years old, Winnie is the perfect “just right” size and has a personality that blossoms once she feels safe. She may be timid at first with new people or dogs, but transforms into a goofy, affectionate girl who leans in for pets. She’s vaccinated, will be spayed before adoption, and is working on her leash manners.
Winnie has gotten along with some dogs here, though she can be selective and needs slow introductions to feel comfortable. Once she realizes another dog isn’t a threat, she’s content to coexist and do her own thing. She’s playful, beautiful, and ready for a patient adopter who appreciates a gentle soul with a big personality.
🐾 SHIRLEY 🐾
Shirley is a young adult boxer mix with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. Though she’s a large dog, she’s affectionate, friendly, and endlessly curious, the kind of dog who happily trots over to say hello and lean in for a snuggle. She enjoys going for walks, exploring new scents, and curling up beside her favorite people. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and has been waiting for a home since July 2025.
At the shelter, Shirley gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is an active member of the play group. She’s currently learning basic commands and is an easy and enthusiastic student. While it’s not yet known how she feels about cats, Shirley’s adaptable temperament suggests she’ll thrive in a home that offers structure, affection, and plenty of companionship. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving dog who’s ready to grow with you, Shirley may be the perfect match.
🐾 COOPER 🐾
Cooper is a handsome shepherd mix who is one of six Tri-County dogs who entered the PAWS program at SCI Forest where he has learned basic obedience and a handful of fun agility and dance moves! He is ready to move on with a committed person who will reinforce all he has learned. Cooper is an energetic dog with a huge personality full of fun, love and happiness. You cannot meet Cooper and not fall absolutely in love with him.
Cooper would do best in an active home with a fenced yard where he can burn off his excitement and love for life. He needs a family that will reinforce his training to keep his mind active.
This handsome boy loves people and does well with other dogs, but has been known to chase cats and may need a cat-free household or one willing to do a slow introduction. Cooper will be returning to the kennel soon, so we are hopeful that he will find a family first!
