Spotted in downtown Tokyo, a rare gen 1 Vanquish!
This was the car that first got me interested in Aston Martin - the Vanquish in Die Another Day was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
I didn't see an Aston Martin in the flesh until a few years later, when a then nearly-released V8 Vantage was on display at Hot Import Nights of all places 🤣
I was heavy in the JDM car scene at the time but the Aston was the car that stole the show for me.
A few years after that, I bought my first one - the Mercury Silver (now wrapped red) V8 Vantage that I still own today.

MATCHING HEADLIGHTS!!
It's such a silly thing to be excited about but it's been sooooo long since I had a pair of properly matching headlights.

I didn't get my ride height or cats done today, but I did figure out why the windshield washer spray button would kill my engine (yes, you read that correctly). It was a bad ground. Love an easy fix but what a weird problem.

Next up: finally getting to dropping the ride height back down and installing my high flow cats. After that, back to the original fuel injectors and VelocityAP engine tune!

Super happy with how the red wrap from turned out! It photographs soooo much better than the Mercury Silver did. The car really pops in pictures now, instead of just being washed away amongst the other shades of grey.

Up next: installing a set of high-flow cats tomorrow, and dropping my coilovers back down to a lower ride height!

I love the original Mercury Silver but the paint was in terrible condition, and it completely hid the carbon fiber and even the car itself in pictures.
Since my signature color is red, and I do miss the Rossa Corsa V8 Vantage I used to have, so I went with a red wrap.
This was a major part of overhauling my car, and there's still more to do...

Turns out the factory seats from a Gaydon-era Aston Martin mate up perfectly with furniture legs from Ikea.

A few pics from Sunday's group drive through the Hakone Turnpike! Unfortunately, it's still very cold so the cherry blossoms haven't started blooming yet.

This was the second of two events over the weekend, and happily last week's mad rush to get some maintenance done and parts installed was successful. Now it's time to catch up after taking yesterday off to recover...

First event with my Aston Martin V8 Vantage in Japan was painfully cold and wet, but we met some great people so I'll call it a success!

The infotainment upgrade worked a charm, and it was great having the recessed cubby to keep the controller out of the way.

And, the carbon fiber front lip and trunk spoiler finally made my car look completed. I do miss the more aggressive ones I used to have, but I'm more comfortable with these given the tight spaces and sharp angles I often have to navigate here.

New parts to continue getting my long-neglected V8 Vantage back in order!

First is new control k**b and 3D-printed deep cubby for my infotainment system, which will let me relocate the controller out of sight while still being easily accessible.

Next up is a front valance and trunk spoiler in V-pattern/mirror-weave carbon fiber and matte-finish carbon fiber shifter surround from that will hopefully arrive in time for my first official event in Japan next weekend!

Also picked up my personalized license plates today! Japan's personalized plates are extremely limited because they're limited to just four numbers (no letters/characters/etc). Also, weirdly... standard-sized Japanese license plates are larger than license plates in the US.

These parts, plus some much-needed maintenance and a few other things, will finally put my car [mostly] back to what it should be, after two very long years!

If you're in Japan/Asia, or Australia/New Zealand, the cost of shipping is generally much lower from Japan than it is from the US, so it'd be worth checking it out.

Many of the same parts stocked at Redpants in the US are also stocked in Yokohama and can ship worldwide. The Redpants Japan website is only set up for domestic shipping at the moment but I can easily get quotes for shipping and send invoices if you decide to order!
