I am officially retiring from the motorcycle repair service. It’s been 20 years since I opened my shop and all of my friends were met and made through the shop. It’s been fun but it’s time for some new blood to step up and grab the bull by the horns. The business is there if anyone will reach out and grab it. I still have some items in stock that I will sell cheap. I can’t eat it any of it and can’t make myself bury it in a hole. It would be Great Wall filler for someone opening a new shop or for someone wanting to add it to their current inventory. 99% aftermarket Harley parts. Boxes full of Kuryakyn parts, brake pads, a few seats, used wheels, brake rotors, a few tires, misc chrome.

I have a customer that’s wanting to sell his 1976 HD Sportster. He bought it new and he’s ready to give up riding. It has a new battery, new chain, 2 seats, 2 handle bars and 2 helmets that go with it. This bike will soon be FIFTY years old. Can’t tell you much more than what I’ve been told. I can put you in touch with him if you’re interested. I think he’s wanting around $4k for it. I’m trying to get some more pictures and information on it. When I get it I’ll post in the comments or edit this.

Ok… I’ve been down for the last year or two for two new knees and a hip surgery but I’m ready to get the ball rolling again.
I’m going to be honest and say that I prefer to do routine service jobs and tires. It’s not that I’m unable to do more in depth jobs but being a small shop and the single mechanic I prefer to stick to tires and services.
I appreciate my customers and their patience with me being down lately so I am giving this notice to say I’M BACK!!!

My ancestors came to America as immigrants to CONTRIBUTE to this nation. This new breed of immigrants are coming so that they can BENEFIT from what my ancestors contributed. Change my mind.

I try harder than you may think not to voice my opinion about internet sales rather than buying locally.
Many know that we own a motorcycle shop (The Twisted Grip) and now only perform service jobs such as oil changes and tires.
I have people every week bring in tires for me to mount that were bought online. I fully understand the desire to save some money as I like to save money as well. Keep in mind it takes $$$ to keep tires in stock for umpteen different bikes. Just the jacks and stands needed to support the various bike frames run into some serious dollars. Yes, I know a tire can be changed on the floor without any special tools but try doing a thousand a year on the floor. Lifts, compressors, jacks, special sockets, special wheel adaptors are needed just to name a few. If you can do the work yourself I’m proud of you and for you. My feelings won’t be hurt. But don’t bring tires in and want the work done for nothing.
My shop rate is $95 per hour, most dealerships are close to $140-$150 per hour. I’m not a $25 an hour mechanic. When any shop takes a bike in, or wheels that needs new tires installed the shop has to charge enough to make a profit. If all of the small shops close due to a total loss of sales to the internet, who is going to mount the tires that were bought online? The internet surely isn’t going to do it. Many dealerships won’t even mount a tire they didn’t sell. If there is a problem with the tire who is going to deal with it? It’s not the shops problem when they didn’t sell it.
Small shops frequently get a bad rap due to dealing with cheap parts that were “brought in” by a customer that either don’t fit correctly or have to be “modified” to make work (which takes time).
I was raised with the mentality that if I can’t make any money not to bother with it. If people want the independent shops to remain they must be supported… and we are falling like flies.
I’m done now… have a nice day.

The Twisted Grip is just about back “up to snuff” and will resume light maintenance, tires and service on a limited basis. Not gonna allow shop to get over loaded with bikes ever again. Call 479-747–836 if you need to contact us. Thanks

Due to a total knee replacement we will not be doing any tires or oils for the next 3-4 weeks. Sorry

Our Story

The Twisted Grip is a mom and pop owned motorcycle service and repair shop. We prefer light maintenance over overhauling your ride but we can put running water on your ride if you want it bad enough. We are located just 5 miles North of Dover Arkansas on Walnut Valley Road which is about 1/4 mile before hwy 164. It’s a pretty ride out to our place so if you ar in the neighborhood, drop by and check us out. We like to ride to so if you are riding very far you might want to call 479-331-2410 first since we may be out enjoying the sunshine ourselves. We love bikes and most of the folks who ride them. If you own a major brand we can most likely help you with whatever your need may be.
