Sunday work! We were able to work with our buddy Mike Medley over at Southeast Foxbody this Sunday upfitting this 1992 Florida Highway Patrol SSP Mustang. Best part was, we were able to match up most of the original equipment to the original mounting locations based on the existing holes in the trim.

We did have to fabricate a bracket for the JSS switch box and radar as the radar was likely originally mounted on top of a Motorola Micor control head (verified by the large hole drilled into the dashboard) and the JSS likely mounted on the right side of the knee bolster (holes matched up perfectly). For safety and liabilty reasons, we didn't want to mount the JSS in it's original location. We are also looking for a clean Micor head and speaker to finish off this restoration.

Hopefully this helps anyone with any future FHP Mustang resto that they are doing. Just to let everybody know, no 2 FHP Mustangs were ever likely alike. The installs on these were done by inmates at correctional facilities and they basically slap things to wherever they could fit them. Keep that in mind when trying to do a restoration on one. The easiest thing to do, and what work for us, was to try and match up any pre-existing holes on the trim with whatever brackets you have for the equipment that should have been in that car.

The finishing touches on it will be little bit of bodywork, some new paint and new decals. With that said, it's good to see another classic police car that will be exhibited at shows around the country.

We just received word from one of our EMS suppliers that they will have hand sanitizer and disinfectant available. We just placed a large order for hand sanitizer, which we expect to go quickly, and we will be placing an order on Thursday at 5 pm Eastern time for disinfectant. The hand sanitizer was shipped to us today and should be here by tomorrow or Friday at the latest. The disinfectant will be a 5 - 7 day lead time to our facility in Georgia.

VERY clean Federal Signal C5GA mechanical siren. Similar to the Federal Q, but MUCH more collectible due to its rarity. Disassembled and cleaned, primary power wire replaced, tested and operating perfectly. Drive clutches are in like new condition ensuring years of reliable service. MINOR imperfections in the chrome are shown in the photos. The only one on the rear cone is on the bottom towards the rear, not noticeable unless looking at the unit from underneath. The ones on the grill are also shown and aren't bad, but the grill is easily replaceable if you choose to do so and relatively inexpensive. The cone has a C5GB tag on it, but the brake was removed, making it an A model. The brake is available and can be replaced, but, honestly why would anyone want to stop the music? 😈

The base is aluminum and has been wet sanded with 200 grit, then 2500 grit and finally 3000 grit before being hand polished to a mirror finish. (This was over a 4 hour process alone) Bottom line is folks, whomever becomes the new owner of this rare gem WILL NOT be disappointed! Here is your opportunity to own one of the more rare Federal mechanical sirens out there. Perfect for your collection or for use on your apparatus.

First item is a pair of CLEAN Whelen PAR-46 strobe heads with 15 foot cables and a like new Whelen CS-450 Competitor Series power supply. The strobes have been tested and are in proper working order. Price is $95, shipped.
