It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Harold Schumaker, a former owner of Dorr Village Auto Body and a pillar of our community. Harold’s journey with our shop began in 1971 when he took a leap of faith and partnered with Bob Wagner to build a business rooted in hard work, integrity, and service. For over 40 years, Harold poured his heart into Dorr Village Auto Body, treating every customer like family and every job with the utmost care.
Beyond the shop, Harold was a dedicated member of the Dorr community—a man who valued friendships, gave back whenever he could, and always had a story to share. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed, not only by those of us who had the honor of working alongside him but also by the countless people whose lives he touched over the years.
Harold’s legacy lives on in the business he helped build, in the relationships he forged, and in the example he set for all of us. We are forever grateful for his leadership, his friendship, and the many memories we shared.
Rest in peace, Harold. You will always be a part of Dorr Village Auto Body and the community you loved so much.

DTFD is saddened to learn of the passing of former Fire Chief Harold Schumaker. With a servant's heart, Harold spent his life in service of others, especially during times of need. After serving his country during the Vietnam War, Harold joined DTFD. Harold served his beloved community for 43 years, serving as Fire Chief for the last 12 years. Harold also served as an EMT for Wayland Area EMS for 12 years. Harold’s profound impact on his community will not be soon forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Harold's loved ones during this difficult time.
