The term "tune up" was created by Henry Ford while working on his prototype. He noticed the coils would buzz when working properly. If not making the buzzing sound, he found they needed an adjustment which he called a tune up.

Customer complaint was his heater wasn’t blowing warm. I found the blend door motor wasn’t functioning. Heard a vibration in the blower motor and had to check it out .Ah Nuts!!
