We are proud to host the Detroit Antique Mortcylcle clubs annual Chopper Pre-Party show here at Detroit Vintage Werkshop.

Randy (only me and his mother get to call him that..) and I have known each other for almost 20 years through the mini bike world.

We both went and did our own things and here last week we reconnected.

When he asked if we were interested in hosting… who am I to say no even if we’re an Aircooled shop.. last time I checked choppers were Aircooled too!

Please join us with your antique motorcycle or vintage VW at the shop Friday 5-10

Food available for purchase with proceeds going directly to D.A.M.

All the cool kids will be there..

Carburetors are precision instruments….

Looks like I’m going to have to paint another Logo on the building

These believe it or not are rebuilt, recently installed Weber carbs.

Don’t worry it’s not like it’s on a Porsche or anything.

The absence of lock washer, thread protrusion, new o rings and gaskets on rebuilt carbs, and carbs so out of sync God couldn’t get it to run right.

I wish I could say the lack of torque was isolated to the carb bases;but as you could already guess, it doesn’t.

All of the captive washers on the screws were either flattened or damaged to the point of splitting and breaking.

Carburetor bowls with gunk still in them, mismatched accelerator pump diaphragms, extra washers, nuts for spacers, ball sockets that were wore out when gas was .79¢ a gallon and I am sure I am missing more.

Crazy that if you want to go get your vintage Volkswagen or Porsche worked on with any sort of actual care, you have to go to the hood and see the shirtless hippie guy 🧙‍♂️
