Making a Difference.
“Before purchasing the Ex-Guard, I spent close to a month researching different guards and trying to find the right solution for our operation.
We are an IFT company that performs critical care transports, and some of our service areas have us traveling rural roads where deer and even bear are a legitimate concern. My biggest concern wasn't simply protecting the ambulance from damage. It was reducing the chance that an animal strike could disable the unit and leave a crew on the side of the road with a critically ill patient who still needs to get to their destination.
At the same time, weight was a major consideration. Ambulances already operate with significant weight, particularly on the front axle, so I didn't want to solve one problem by adding an excessively heavy guard. I looked at a number of options and compared protection, construction, weight, and how practical each would be on an ambulance that's in service every day.
That research is ultimately what led me to Ex-Guard.
When the guard arrived, I was impressed with the construction and how substantial it felt without being excessively heavy. Once installed, it looked like it belonged on the ambulance rather than something we had simply bolted onto the front.
For us, this is really about operational reliability and patient care. If a guard can turn an animal strike that might otherwise disable an ambulance into an incident where the unit can remain mobile long enough to get the patient and crew somewhere safe, that's a worthwhile investment.”
