Guess who’s back! After jumping thru a bunch of hoops to prove that I was in fact Me and the legitimate proprietor of this account/business, I can post to the MRF page again! Just in time to let everyone know that I’ll be back in full fabricating swing this winter now that I’m fully retired from track promotion! The original is still the best, our Ghost and XBP bodies from over three plus years ago are still going strong on several of the karts they were built for. We are still cutting them to exact measures via cad drawings and the waterjet, and can customize any design desired. Aside from bodies, we’re still making rear loop bumpers, nerf bars, and front bumpers. The OHara bars that are seen on many of the front open wheel karts originated at the MRF shop! Get your orders for the winter in soon, and make sure to follow the page for updated pricing and more info coming soon on all the great services we offer at Mills Race Fabrication.

Aloha Everyone - quick change to our fabrication policy and pricing - take note:

From now on, if you need a bumper, a body, or any significant part made with less than 48 hours of notice there will be a rush job surcharge. It will be 50% of the original job cost extra. I will always try to accommodate everyone right up to the last minute if possible, but it’s getting harder to budget my time between the job that pays the real bills, the job that pays the kart bills, and my family time. Not to mention managing the materials I need to keep on hand with the number of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday requests for parts needed that weekend.

Also, I will always try to do the best I can to get you your parts, I have no problem bringing them to tracks I’m going to or sending them with a willing courier if possible and convenient. Your parts are your responsibility to get picked up promptly tho. Imagine giving up an hour or two of your own time going to the shop early on a weekday, or spending your weekend working to help someone out in a jam only to hold onto that unpaid part for three weeks after, that’s frustrating. If you need your part before race day, you might have to plan on making a trip to Hancock or Deposit to pick it up or I can ship UPS.

I’m working on coming up with a quick order form for you guys who are doing it the right way and getting your orders to me at the track the week before to fill out so I can keep things better organized on my end. And the surcharge doesn’t apply to parts that I have in inventory prior. (For example, I try to bring an extra bumper with me at most tracks, if you need it and I already have it, it’s not surcharged, but it is first come). This message really doesn’t apply to 90% of my customers and supporters, thank you all for trusting me with yours and my craziest ideas, I love being there for you when you need a custom part, and bringing those ideas to fruition is the most rewarding part of this venture.

Something a little different coming out of the shop, it’s yard kart time! Buddy of mine picked up this chassis for 150$, some fresh rubber, new axle and bearings, preddy 212, wilwood brake system, racing seat and belts and some driver fit modifications and this beast is ready to tear up some poor unsuspecting mothers’ yard! Enjoy your MRF built ride Josh!

It might look like a disheveled mess, but I promise you that super modified pipe bender and bench grinder have made so many of your bumpers and nerf bars since I got into this racket a few years ago your heads would spin. We’ll into the hundreds! I’ve often dreamt about getting one of those fancy benders, the kind you don’t have to line up every bend perfectly using the side of the bench as reference (which by the way I’m pretty damn good at). But at the end of the day I’m pretty proud of the work that’s been done. Over the years the homemade dies have been perfected, and this sh*tty looking homemade setup right here is the reason that I can afford to sell you guys the bumpers and bars at the prices I do. It ain’t all glamour, hell none of its glamorous, but it’s effective. Hard to believe that what started as me over-engineering a microd for my son has bloomed into this. I made my first set of bumpers and bars with an electrical bender and hickey, so we started at the bottom and now we’re two rungs up the later but making it work like the big guys. Thank you to all the customers, racers, and supporters over the years! We’re gonna keep trying to figure out ways to do it better, but until then we’ve got this way pretty well perfected!
