9.14°. That got our attention.

On a recent Audi in the shop, our Audi Master Technician, Dimitri Schleif, checked the camshaft adaptation value and found the mechanical timing had moved considerably from where we want to see it.

In our recent feature, Berg Performance breaks down what we look for, what the numbers are telling us, and when it’s time to start planning for repair:

What causes Audi timing chain stretch? Learn the warning signs, camshaft phase-position readings, maintenance tips, and when timing chain replacement should be considered.

We started the morning at Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, made the drive up the foothills to Mount Blue Sky, hiked to the summit, and even had a few mountain goats join us along the way.

Taking a day to get out of the shop and spend time together was a reminder that Berg Performance has something special. Every repair, every project, and every customer experience is the result of a team that genuinely cares about what they do and about each other.

Some of the hardest-working, most talented people I've ever had the privilege of working alongside. Here's to a team that works hard, laughs often, and never passes up a chance to enjoy the Colorado mountains together.

Wrapping up the week with a trio of air-cooled Porsches.

Check out Peter reinstalling a legendary Mezger drivetrain on this Porsche 997.1. The drop of the chassis over the 3.6L twin-turbo flat-six may look simple, but it’s anything but. Dry-sump oil system, integrated coolant lines, BorgWarner twin turbos. With these tight tolerances, everything has to land exactly right. This takes patience, real experience, and instinct you won’t find in a manual. Watch how he moves: smooth, precise, no wasted motion. This is how you bring a Turbo like this back to the road.

What happens when you take a Porsche Cayenne 957 with bore scoring problems and replace it with the heart of the next generation 958?

In this video, Aaron Marshall breaks down the process behind swapping a newer 958 engine into a 957 chassis. It’s not just a drop-in, it’s a full rethink of how these platforms communicate, mount, and perform together. From wiring and ECU considerations, to physical fitment and long-term reliability. This is what happens when you push these platforms beyond what they were originally built to do.
